The drive up this winding road is beautiful, albeit filled with cyclists! We parked at Realization Point and hiked the Tenderfoot Trail with a baby in the Bjorn and it was an easy stroll. If you're only in town for a short while and want...More

It's wonderful how close Boulder is to the mountains. It just takes a few minutes to leave downtown and begin ascending Flagstaff Mountain on a steep, winding, scenic road that cars share with a surprisingly large number of hardy bicyclists. There is lots of convenient...More

The views from here are spectacular! The drive up is a little scary at times and parking is not always easy, but the view is well worth it.

First trip to Boulder to visit family with young children. Great hikes for tiny legs with wonderful photo opportunities. Enjoyed watching young military recruits train, threw some snow balls, and enjoyed the amazing views. A must see for those with only a short time to...More

A fabulous drive to the top of the mountain with some amazing views as far as Denver and beyond. Beware if you are not a resident of Boulder County you need a Daily pass to stop at the viewing stations at $5.

Don't bother driving up the mountain unless you want to be caught in a traffic jam with no place to park and enjoy the scenery.

This place is a short drive from Boulder and has fantastic views of both Boulder and the snow covered Rockies. There were a zillion people there, including hikers, bikers, and some questionable drivers, however. I went on a Saturday though, so I guess I should...More

Loved visiting Flagstaff Mountain. Recommend 4 wheel drive and a good camera. Spectacular views at every turn, bikers who you'd swear have motors to make them go uphill as they do, water rushing down the mountain next to gorgeous bike & walking paths - what's...More

Hello. Just going to be in Boulder for the day (this Friday). I wanted to show my daughter the CU campus, then get a bite to eat on Pearl St. then drive up a mountain to possibly see snow. Is there snow up on the mountain and is it easy to drive up there? Thanks

I was there a week or so ago and there were just tiny patches of snow here and there. The road up there is very windy and steep in spots, but we didn't have any problem in our rental sedan. Our biggest concern were the... More

Camping isn't allowed in Boulder's Open Space and Mountain Parks area, which is the area Flagstaff is in. If you do a web search for camping near Flagstaff you can find some nearby (though not easily walkable) places.
