The Flatirons are a series of rock slabs defining the front of the foothills on the western edge of Boulder. The Flatirons are both a visual spectacle to behold but the source of recreation as well.... More

Considering how flat everywhere is outside of Boulder, the Flatirons were a welcomed sight. We did a short hike, 2.6 miles, as recommended by the park ranger. It took us just to the base of Flatiron #1. It was a moderate hike that involved a gradual incline. Absolutely recommend coming here. Stop by the park ranger's office for a recommendation... More

The dogs run wild and there are thousands of people; just like the mall at christmas time. Advice: Choose a differnt trail; Boulder has many!

A layer of sandstone that was thrust upwards by tectonic movement, they are a very dramatic barrier between the mountains and the plains. To get up close and personal, head to Chautauqua Park to start a hike. Even in winter, Boulderites will hit... More

Have you ever seen the movie "The shining"? (Krubrik) Part of it is in Colorado, and the flatirons appear in the movie. You can view them from the whole city. Walking up takes ~80min.
