Very nice drive. The views have to be seen in person to appreciate. Post card picture ops. Second week in September some Aspen were yellow and falling some still green. it's doable with 2WD car but it wouldn't be my first choice. Vehicle going up...More

This is a awesome road to drive for any standard car as 4 wheeled drive is not required. The road is an old rail bed and takes long slow incline up over the pass and it is really beautiful for Aspen viewing. Give yourself a...More

We try to drive up Boreas pass a few times/year. It is stunning in the fall. This year, the changing aspens were spectacular. There are 2-3 areas where you feel like you are driving through a tunnel of aspens. In the summer, the wild flowers...More

We drove this road from Breckenridge at 9900 feet elevation to 11,350 feet elevation near the top of the pass. The road twists its way up the mountain, offering breathtaking views and a challenging drive. After the first 2 miles, the pavement ends and the...More

Boreas Pass Road intersects Main Street just a couple of minutes outside of town. A two-lane hard surface road changes into a hard dirt in places and sometimes narrows to a single lane. The views are remarkable, but the driver needs to keep their eye...More

Always a gorgeous drive- but last week was the best. If you can- make the drive all the way over to Como. So different that heading to pass from Breck. No need right now for 4 wheel drive.

Went 9/15/17 - some aspen are still green, some have turned yellow, and more than in previous years are brilliant orange. Great views, photo ops, etc. It is a dirt road, and while I agree you don't need 4WD/AWD, I am glad I didn't have...More

I came up from Denver to just get away from stress, and decided to take this drive...it was definitely well worth it. The trees were starting to turn colors, and there was hardly another soul in site! Beautiful drive! (It is a dirt road, with...More

I have traveled this road several times and each time, the views never cease to amaze. Good pull-off's for photo ops of the Blue River Valley and 10-mile Range. The 16 mile trip to the top is all dirt with some narrow passages. Drive under...More

We saw so many different scenic/picturesque backdrops. The ride was a little long, but well worth it. The cabin at the end that the railroad works used to stay in was pretty cool and made for great pictures. Have a blast and take it in...so...More

What TomAB9 said. I would only add that the road gets narrow at times for two cars to pass and so you might use some caution when approaching vehicles in the opposit direction.

First of all, if you are heading for Steamboat, rent a 4wd SUV. We are having an epic snow year. You will be able to get around much better in a 4wd. The other answers are correct-you wont get very far up Boreas in... More

We live in Breck and the colors are gorgeous now, but supposed to peak next weekend...of course, there is a storm that they're saying could bring some snow next weekend too!
