- Michele CTulsa, Oklahoma56 contributionsMake This Your First Stop in Colorado SpringsThere are almost no words to describe the beauty of the formations in the park! The visitor center has a snack bar, museum exhibits, a short film & a nice viewing area. There are multiple options for enjoying the beauty of the park - self guided tours by personal vehicle, and paid trolley, jeep & bike tours. It just depends on how long you have & how much you want to pay.Visited September 2022Travelled soloWritten December 2, 2022
- Emily ThomasBucyrus, Ohio43 contributionsBeautiful Panoramic ViewsGarden of the Gods Visit and Nature center offered views of Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak that are absolutely amazing. The visitor center is free admission with beautiful panoramic views of the garden. My husband and I took a jeep tour ($21 per person) with Jersey and absolutely enjoyed our time. The tour was approximately 45 minutes with detailed explanations of each landmark throughout the garden. Jersey was very kind and well educated on the area. We would highly recommend building the time to take a jeep tour to get the full experience. The gardens themselves are free to travel throughout, offering numerous hiking trails and scenic stopping points. We would visit again!Visited December 2022Written December 11, 2022
- john0105Richardson, Texas109 contributionsIn the summer, get here as early as you canIn the summer, get here early. As early as you can after first light. You have a limited number of mornings on your trip, but this is the place to spend one of them. Earlier is always better. The lighting is better. The temperature is better. There are a lot fewer people. The whole place is a lot more magical. Do the visitors center afterwards if you have extra time.Visited July 2022Written December 14, 2022
- DR1Austin, Texas91 contributionsSuch Fun!At Garden of the Gods, you can either drive your vehicle through for a self-guided tour or take a guided tour when it's good weather. I took the guided tour in August, which was great because you learn all kinds of interesting tidbits, or drive yourself through the park like we did this December (it was icy/snowy and the guided tours were closed). Definitely a must-see when you're in Colorado Springs! Beautiful!Visited December 2022Written December 30, 2022
- Amber PToronto, Canada17 contributionsGreat place for young familiesBeautiful park, great for strollers or wheel chairs as there are paved paths. They have the junior ranger program like state parks. You purchase a junior ranger activity book in the gift shop for $2 when you get there, do the activities and bring it back to the visitor center and a park ranger will chat with the kids, fill out the certificate of completion, give them a Garden of gods patch, sticker, some polished stones and made an announcement about their newest junior ranger over the PA system. Our kids 6 & 3 loved it!Visited January 2023Travelled with familyWritten January 12, 2023
- Becky DTallahassee, Florida103 contributionsBeautiful Moderate HikingAbsolutely beautiful! This is a great stop for families and novice hikers. There are a ton of short but beautiful hikes, as well as some longer ones for the more ambitious. There are trails through the spires that have some gorgeous views and nice little secluded areas. There’s a cafe with nice views and ok food. I definitely recommend bringing water.Visited September 2022Travelled with friendsWritten January 14, 2023
- Kaley_DanielLubbock, Texas65 contributionsNectar of Fair-Weather Outdoor AdventurersI highly recommend beginning in the Visitor & Nature Center and paying for a ticket ($6) to watch the 15-20 minute Geo Trekker video, especially if you don’t/your group doesn’t like to read exhibit information. My 13YO said the video was “cringy” (Gen Xers, read “cheesy”), but worth it to learn about how the garden was formed. 13YO Note: He also enjoyed the “Name that Scat” exhibit. The center also has a good photo opp spot complete w/a sign that has the date. The park appeared to be extremely well maintained with nice roads and excellent crushed hiking/jogging paths and concrete walking paths (even with snowfall!). They have convenient parking spots throughout the park for those photo opps at key formations such as Steamboat Rock and Balanced Rock. Our group of boys (8-13YO) loved being able to climb on and inside the rocks and our group of adults appreciated the well-kept paths.Visited January 2023Travelled with familyWritten January 22, 2023
- Debbie HLaguna Niguel, California105 contributionsA must see!Beautiful easy walks to see everything, lots of shaded areas, just beautiful. Lots of rock climbers when we were there. We spent a few hours climbing all over the rocks with some small caves, just stunning. You can do longer hikes if you want. It was end of day so we stayed a few hours and so glad we stopped!Visited August 2022Written January 30, 2023
- Michael F2 contributionsUnbelievable SceneryEven a quick stop at Garden of the Gods is worth the price...oh wait, its all free! We did a 40 minute walking loop around the main formations and everyone was entranced with the geology and history of the park. It is very easy to get to from Downtown and parking is widely available with lots of options depending on where you want to walk. People were biking, hiking, climbing and running. It was cold when we were there but I'd imagine in the warmer months all of the trails would be worthy of your time.Visited January 2023Written January 31, 2023
- SydneySaint Louis, Missouri211 contributionsTourist Hot SpotGreat park but it is very touristy. There are paved sidewalks with railings on both sides and pretty much NO hiking among the red rocks. The parking lot is a disaster, if you get there in the afternoon you'll be stuck walking pretty far. Good views and pretty rock formations, but I would've loved more strenuous hiking with less people.Visited July 2022Written March 9, 2023

My husband and I and a couple we know from NM visited Garden of the Gods. We all loved it! You are able to drive through the Garden, but you also have lots of opportunities to take walks among the rocks for another perspective and close-up look, which is well worth it to do. Amazing story of how this land was donated to the City of Colorado Springs and kept free for all to see and enjoy. We most likely will be back!

My parents and I visited the Garden of the Gods in March 2023. The weather was perfect for our visit. The visitor's center was accessible which made for a pleasant visit for my Mom and Dad. The trails through the park are well kept and paved for the most part. There were many people using the park that day, but it did not feel over crowded. We enjoyed our experience learning about the formations and the surroundings in the shadows of Pike's Peak. I definitely recommend making this a stop when you're in Colorado Springs!

Excellent free attraction to stop off at in Colorado Springs. I took advantage of a break on a drive from Denver to Pueblo and walked around the red rock formations for about 45 minutes before continuing on.
There's bathrooms and clean, well maintained walking paths. Ample parking on a Monday at around 1pm.

Great ride on electric mountain bikes in garden of the gods we finished right before the snow fell. My guide was so fun and made sure I was safe and ready.

I only had an hour but it was amaaaazing. If you see a big black and white bird with some iridescence, it's a magpie! Saw so many deer as well.

Garden of the Gods is a beautiful place and we enjoyed our visit... that said, we were a bit underwhelmed, relative to expectations. We have visited numerous red rock areas in the southwest, and found Garden of the Gods to be a smaller version of those we had seen elsewhere.
The Perkins Central Garden Trail is lovely but signage is terrible - the same trail map is posted at each trail junction, but none of them have "you are here" marked on them. We also did the Siamese Twins trail, which was very pretty. Many of the trails seemed to be flat trails through grassland areas.
The Visitor Centre is no longer handing out paper maps - instead, you have to scan a code to get a map on your phone. We ended up using the free map that we picked up at the Garden of the Gods Trading Post (at the south end of the park), which had all the information we needed.

Extremely gorgeous views! A trail that goes on for a few miles around mountains. There is bathrooms and maps, and access to the actual mountains for rock climbers if you have the appropriate gear to climb. There was some wildlife around such as deer and wild birds.

Beautiful to see up close and in person. We were a part of a Jeep tour that allowed us to see all sides of the formation and see its truly spectacular presence. A must see if you are in the area and surrounded by many trails for hiking, a picnic area and visitors center with souvenirs and snacks.

We could spend hours here and find new things. Easy-moderate hike. Wear comfortable hiking boots and pack a lunch to enjoy here with a great view. There was a lot of people visiting but it never felt crowded. It's free! Must go!

Towering rocks rising high into the sky! This attraction is one that you should not miss if you are visiting Colorado Springs, CO. Get there early so that you can see the rock formations illuminated by the sun. It might also help you to avoid crowds. The walk through the park is easy and is a visual delight!

Yes, but only if you get there EARLY, like by 9 am at the latest. Or you can take a (paid) trolley or Jeep tour and let them drive so you can enjoy the view. You can still drive thru later, but it's a bumper-to-bumper crawl.

I think you can drive almost all of the park. There are a few pull-over spots to see areas that would be difficult for handicap or walking challenged forks.

Hello ! I am visiting in October and I was wondering how long people usually spend in the park . Should I spend 1 or 2 days exploring the area?
Thanks

You should plan on 2-3 hours at Garden of the Gods. It has well-maintained trails and the scenery is beautiful. There is a lot to do in the area so I would recommend 2 - 4 days depending on your interests. And consider staying in Manitou Springs. It is really close to most points of interest and has a great downtown area to walk around.
