We started our hike on the Woods Trail out of Crested Butte, which then joined Lower Loop, followed by Upper Loop. The views are outstanding and the wildflowers abundant. The downside is that you must share the trails with mountain bikers. While they are courteous,...More

Close to town and easy to walk to. You do not need a 4 wheel drive to be able to hike and enjoy the mountain scenery. The trails are busy with bikers, but expected that so if you want solitude this is not for you....More

Had a neat experience with great views and the Lupine flowers in full bloom. Bikers have good manners and everyone in Crested Butte has a smile and something nice to say. Super good vibes!

Pretty easy hike. Some elevation gain in the beginning depending where you access, but nothing outlandish. Some snowmelt created some small "creeks" to cross on the ascent but there was enough rock and such to step on across them. Lovely scenery and you can go...More

Good anytime, but spectacular in Jul-Aug. You can park fairly close and there are several options to adjust length of your wallk.

This was just the sort of hike we were looking for for our young kids (2,5,7). My biggest complaint was how difficult it was to find. When you get out of town on peanut road you need to go past the first parking sign, past...More
