The beauty out here is breath taking! I took the drive myself while visiting Denver and fell in love with this drive. Beautiful deep forest views with fall changing colors early in Sept. Lake Echo was beautiful. You have to get out and spend a...More

Definitely a must see when in the area. Beautiful scenery including wildlife. Drive is not for those who dislike heights.

My wife and I just got back from this tour and it was wonderful! Matt was our guide and he is full of knowledge and information. The tour was small so it had the private/ intimate feel to it. The sights were incredible and well...More

We took the Squaw Pass Road to Echo Lake and then up to Summit Lake. It would have been great to go on to the top but we watched some “interesting” clouds roll across while we were at the lake and understood why the decision...More

Day 4 of our 5 day Colorado trip. Coming here from Glenwood Springs. Arrived at the entrance to Mount Evans and the temperature was 55 degrees and the top was 35 with windchill of 27 degrees. Over cast to cloudy skies. Which did not feel...More

This scenic byway is filled with beautiful views. There are a lot of places to stop along the way, with picnic areas and bathroom facilities. You can't go wrong taking this drive. I visited twice on my 5 day Denver trip.

Even on a busy Labor Day weekend, the drive up Mt Evans was stunning. Lots of mountain sheep were out to keep the tourists cameras busy. Wildlife experts were set up at Summit Lake to answer questions. The lodge gift shop is fun and a...More

This was an amazing trip over the byway. It took about 45 minutes to get to the top, but it was worth every minute. We loved seeing the mountain sheep at the top!

On my bucket list. Did it and loved it. Easy driving on the bottom part, a bit hairy at the top. Just before Summit Lake the road gets very bumpy. This goes on for half a mile or so then smooths out for a straight...More

Just put in Mt. Evans, as the lake is on the only road going up there. Or you can put in Echo Lake Lodge, which is the restaurant about 1/4 mile further up the road.

Hi! It’s very easy to get to. The lake is not that far up the mountain, so I would assume it’s easy to access until it snows. I’m not sure when the very top closes. Have fun!
