A scenic byway indeed. make sure your car's engines and brakes are not due for maintenance because the gradient and curves are tough on vehicles indeed. And always remind your driver to keep his/her eyes on the road. The views are so nice the driver's...More

Great scenic route that's worth the short from Denver. Got lots of breathtaking views. Stopped for lunch and some hiking at Arapahoe National Park since the road to the summit of Mount Evans was closed. Our only setback was a bike race taking place on...More

Great views and a beautiful and exciting road to drive. The last 50 meters you will have to walk. 4280 meter high! Make also a stop at the Visitor Center and watch >1500 Year Old trees

This is a trip that I inevitably take yearly. The experience is second to none. Do take a little time to walk the interpretive plant paths.

I'm only giving 4 stars rather than 5 because I am so happy that I didn't have to drive. There's SO much to look at as you go along. Echo Lake is lovely. There's a shop there to park and take a break if you're...More

In late September, I would first check the road and make sure it is open. You would be getting close to snow season at that elevation, and once the road drifts over, it is closed for the season, not opening until about... More

There is none. It is a very worthwhile trip if you decide. Easy drive from Denver. If you decide to, go on Tue-Thur and there will much less traffic.
