In June 2015, it was beautiful. We could only drive as far as Echo Lake - the road higher was closed due to construction and snow. Overall a beautiful peaceful drive. Beware - elevation and breathing issues.

Dress in layers for this trip. Beautiful scenery, somewhat narrow and at times harrowing journey up (if there's snow, which I imagine, is most of the year). Fun to take video at the top if it's snowy and/or windy as it seems like you're on...More

When we went in early June, the road to the top of Mt.Evans was still closed due to snow. However, the byway was open and the drive to Echo Lake was worth the trip. Great views along the whole route and the walk around the...More

Went on a drive up here on a recent trip to Denver with a friend. The views are spectacular and it's a short trip from Denver. Nice shop at the end of the road with nice look out points for photo taking.

We loved this drive to the top of Mt. Evans. Steep cliffs and lots of turns which adds to the fun of the drive. Beautiful scenery and it's neat to be so high. Do this drive!

The drive is absolutely stunning! The way to the top was closed due to snow, but its scenic around Echo Lake too. There are opportunities to fish in the lake and lots of places to click b'ful snaps!

This is a great day trip out of Denver. We didn't a chance to drive all the way to the top of the mountain but we stopped at Echo Lake and walked around some trails. The views throughout the whole drive are spectacular. For all...More

In late September, I would first check the road and make sure it is open. You would be getting close to snow season at that elevation, and once the road drifts over, it is closed for the season, not opening until about... More

There is none. It is a very worthwhile trip if you decide. Easy drive from Denver. If you decide to, go on Tue-Thur and there will much less traffic.

Depending on how busy the road is the day your visit is how fast you can make it up. If you want to hike to the top which is about 1/4 mile hike and take pictures, I would give yourself 3 hours round trip. You may be able... More
