Western water rights laws are pretty complicated, and supplying Denver and other western cities involves a lot of construction and a lot of lawyers. It's fascinating stuff. There's actually a town under that beautiful body of water.

From every angle, this was breathtaking. We drove across the dam, went down to Frisco to learn about the history, and up Swan Mountain to walk the point. Absolutely gorgeous views!

There are camp grounds, hiking trails. Bike paths, marinas and so much more. Visiting this September with the color change was an added bonus.

The Lake Dillon Rec Path is a scenic route that follows the shoreline, travels through towns, over the dam and on into Keystone resort or back to Frisco via Swan Mt. Rd. There are many access points but currently, the Frisco Marina trail head has...More

Best and highest lake to sail. Get out on any water craft, get a drink and enjoy the view. Must see! If you can make sure to catch a free show at the amphitheater. One of the best small outdoor venues to enjoy some tunes.

A beautiful mountain lake near the Keystone ski resort. We brought our own kayaks and had a great time on the water. They have a marina and boat rental, but I would call in advance to reserve a boat or paddle board on a busy...More

The path along the lake is our favorite for bicycling and walking with incredible views. The town of Frisco at the west end is a great destination as well.

Nothing can beat a lake surrounded by mountains. While you aren't allowed to swim in Dillon Reservoir (too cold), there are so many other things to do on the lake including sailing, paddle sports (even stand up paddle boarding and a rowing club, camping and...More

I love the bike/walk path as it has so many amazing views of both the lake as well as the many surrounding mountain peaks. Super well maintained and smooth and well worth many return trips.

Yes. There is a great paved bike/walking path all the way around the lake. I believe the total distance is about 10 miles can also hike along the shoreline and out on the peninsulas. These are easy paths.
