We have gone to Durango many time,s just to enjoy the Animas River path. It winds through Durango, with plenty of opportunity to enjoy restaurants, city parks and conveniences such as restrooms and parking. Fun to watch the Kayaks and rafts going down the river....More

Well, yes, and a very pretty and scenic one at that. Surprisingly fast flowing and big, given how dry the area is. Get down to it, away from Durango if you can. Splash your toes. Go fishing. Take it in.

We have been camping in Durango, Colorado since 1995, in part, because of the Animas River. I love to sit next to the river, drink coffee and just watch the river. We also love all of the river activities such as rafting and fishing.

A wild ride indeed. Great fun! If going to Colorado Outback Adventures , get there at least 1/2 hour early. Parking is an issue.

While I do not know for sure if there are vacation homes available I highly suspect it. The area is filled with a great deal of natural beauty that certainly would attract folks to offer a vacation home paradise.

When the river is really running, there is one rapid that is a class IV - V. We have rafted with children as young as six and my parents who are in their 70s. Never any problem and we have always had a fantastic time!
