It's worth the climb. A lot more people Than in the past but the sun welcomed the tourists. Expect to climb almost 100 steps according to the Fitbit which is 1,000 feet elevation and this year it was a lot less icy than last year at this time.

This is the best hike we've ever been on. Its almost more of a climb than a hike! 1000 feet up to a gorgeous lake that is "Hanging" about 300 feet below the rocky granite rim of a canyon. Because it was mid-April when we went-there was snow and some icy patches near the top. The last five minutes of... More

The trail is said to be difficult, and it is, if you are slightly out of shape or not in very good shape. I think people that are in shape for hiking will find it moderate. I'm mid aged and in decent shape and found the climb up (because of the altitude) somewhat difficult. But the surprise that awaits you... More

My family did the trail in approximately 40 minutes each way and spent 1 hour when we got to the lake The trail is a hard one but worth the pain

Hanging lake has been a favorite hike of only a couple of miles since our children were small. The view at the lake is well worth the hike and the waters are so clear you can see the fish at the bottom.

fun place. Difficult hike in the mid day summer heat. Best early morning. A magical place. Trail is narrow but workable. Middle of summer it can be really busy

One of the most beautiful hikes I've ever been on. While it is a bit strenuous at times, there are plenty of places to rest and you don't have to get to the top to enjoy the scenery. There are a couple of bridge crossings over whitewater that are worth stopping for. Oh...leave the dog at home. They are not... More

Let's get it out of the way and say that this is a difficult trail. If you are anything like me you are going to want to turn back about every five minutes. BUT, if you keep pressing on, you will find paradise. Just before you get to the top, there's a set of stairs with a hand rail and... More

Wear solid shoes, also, the weather can change quickly. Carry water too, there's none along the trail. There is a bathroom in the parking lot.

We went a few weeks ago and the trail was treacherous but worth it! The snow hadn't completely melted yet. Many spots had started to melt during the day and then refroze at night so it was extremely icy and slick. It made the uphill climb really hard. We and several others on the trail fell on the way up... More
