Pioneer life in the hills and canyons near Golden was harsh, difficult, and not for the faint of heart. Most who survived in the beautiful, if inhospitable region, succeeded as farmers and ranchers. Relive the experience by exploring the blacksmith shop, log cabins, hay barn and root cellar. Visit with our heirloom-breed chickens and discover a buzzing beehive. On select days, interact with costumed interpreters who enliven the landscape with cooking and blacksmithing demonstrations. Step inside the one-room Guy Hill Schoolhouse and take a seat in a student’s desk, but don’t wisecrack to the school mistress!

A small park with a very nice collection of buildings

I went to the park yesterday - and the interiors of the buildings seem to be closed for the season. However, there is no reason not to walk around and look inside of the windows. The setting is beautiful, and there is no admission charge.

Beautiful

Very pretty place.

We are walkers and this was a wonderful place to explore. We also panned for gold here and did find small amounts. Too much fun.

Nice stroll around the historic buildings.

Nice walk through the historic cabins and buildings. There are brochures when you walk in. We enjoyed seeing the variety of live chickens.

Self-Guided Tour in History

This was a nice find as we walked through downtown Golden. We were able to use the brochures to learn a little bit about the history of the area. My sons really enjoyed the chickens! I liked seeing the gardens.
