Looking for something different? This museum is just that - and you will be greatful for modern conveniences when you get home. Located next to a beautiful greenhouse where peacocks roam and flowers abound, Eaton Grove is a treasure.

I love oddity museums and this was an example of why. Since his retirement, Lee Maxwell tried a unique hobby. He has hundreds beginning with the standard washboard up through today. And he is intimate with each one. He gives the history, answers questions and shows how they work. Very ingenious but some made in East Germany and Russia look... More

We spent a truly astounding couple of hours at the antique washing machine museum. Mr. Maxwell is engaging, funny, and a fountain of knowledge about the history and development of washing machines. He is a retired electrical engineering professor and brings his problem solving talents to restoring the machines. They are in remarkable, working condition. The museum is very well... More

Over 1,000 restored machines in several connected buildings, located just northwest of Greeley adjacent to Eaton Nursery. Usually need to check for admission re irregular hours.

Starting about 18 months ago a small group of us started planning a large motorcycle event in Greeley. Mr. Maxwell prefers smaller groups, so we planned for five different groups to go tour the washing machine museum. During each tour Mr. Maxwell is funny, informative, and just a joy. As each of our groups came back from the tour they... More

Want to know all there is to know about washing machines? Then you have come to the right place. It has been years since we visited here....but I have never forgotten...how interesting, informative and complete this collection is. A first class exhibit!

It's small, but really interesting! Another fun place to take visitors to enjoy a little known or thought about piece of history

I had heard of this man’s collection of some old and more recent washing machines, and expected to see 50 or so in a small storage building. I was astounded when I walked into a large building housing Lee Maxwell’s collection of 1400 washing machines of every age and description. What began 30 years ago as a hobby after retiring... More

This is actually in Eaton, not Galeton. It is at the wonderful Eaton Grove nursery. Have Lee show you his museum - one of a kind!
