About
Fisherman's Cove is a quaint 200 year old fishing village. It offers visitors a peek into the past while providing a variety of modern day activities for the whole family. It has the sounds of the ocean, seagulls, and sand pipers. Stroll the boardwalk and relax in the sand at MacCormack's Beach. Catch a glimpse of the osprey and herons as they enjoy fishing off the beach. Watch fishing boats come home with their catch and sail boats drift by as they enter the Halifax Harbour through the eastern passage.

A short drive from Halifax and enjoy the quaint local shops. Stroll along the boardwalk for some nice views along the waterfront. Tons of free parking.

I saw some great photos and tought it would be more like a small village but it was only some random mini houses all transformed into tourist boutiques (they were all closed at this time). There was not really good views of the little bay and it was industrial zone… I did not even take a photo.

Absolutely delightful boardwalk with ample parking featuring an ice cream shop, candy shop, and a couple of restaurants for a more substantial bite to eat. Boat and jet ski rentals add to the fun. Will definitely be back once Covid is over and more shops are open.

I aways enjoy a visit here. walk about hunting the little shops for a treasure, book a boat ride or a paddle trip or wander to the nearby shore line.

Our friend took us on a brief tour of Halifax which included a visit to Fisherman’s Cove. This is a tourist’s delight with its many gift shops, food / restaurant choices, and great views of the surrounding waters and countryside.

Visited Fisherman's cove on each trip to Nova Scotia and absolutely love the ice creams. Get a really good portion size for the money compared to other venue's and we all love the flavors and variety.
If you don't fancy the ice creams have some of their candy or one of their milk shakes.
Highly recommend.
On a separate note: you can paddle in the sea at quite a distance on without it getting too deep. Kids love to hunt for shells and crabs.

What a cute place near Halifax.
Brightly painted shops and cafes.
A boardwalk for strolling.
Plenty of parking and photo ops.
Would recommend at least 1 to 2 hours.

If you are looking for something to do that is a great day trip idea from Halifax - take a trip to Eastern Passage, and visit the "Fisherman's Cove" wharf.
This is a fantastic way to enjoy the East Coast experience when you visit Nova Scotia.
Every time we are in Nova Scotia we make sure to visit the Fisherman's wharf.
They have great stores, crafts, seafood, views of the harbour/ocean. and it is a beautiful authentic Nova Scotia experience.
Some of the best seafood we have ever had has been here.
We love checking out the unique stores selling fantastic items. on this particular trip, we bought from almost every store.
The view of the harbour and the area is enjoyed by walking along the boardwalk that they have - where you can take a nice hike through the area.
There are great seafood restaurants, as well as snack bars on the wharf where the seafood is very fresh and flavourful.
If you are visiting Halifax, I highly recommend you take an afternoon and visit the Fisherman's Cove in Eastern Passage. Check it our in the evening for some amazing Sunsets, as well.

A short drive or ride on No 60 bus from Halifax lies the eastern passage with fishermans cove. A quaint little harbour community full of gift shops, eateries etc and a beautiful short sea walk on wooden boardwalk to the Halifax Harbour exit to the Atlantic Ocean. If there at the right time, you will see the massive cruise ships leave Halifax harbour for the open sea. Don't miss St Andrew's church with its distinctive Red roof. A great place to get close to nature and chill out by the sea.

We took the short trip across on the Woodside ferry and then the number 60 bus, which takes a further 10/12 mins. There are a number of colourful little shops along the front where you can pick up some gifts etc as well as some eateries to keep you refuelled. There is a boardwalk where you walk around the water's edge which is very nice and peaceful and with the shallow waters at this point many people were swimming/wading into the water. Very picturesque place with lots of photo opportunities. Just a short distance from Downtown Halifax but a world away in terms of peace and tranquility, There is plenty of parking if you choose to travel by car, but with a transfer ticket at the ferry crossing covering the bus travel then for Cnd$2.50 for an adult then Halifax transit makes great sense.

How do I get there from the Ramada without our own vehicle?

We used the GPS on the vehicle. If you have a smart phone you can also use Google maps to navigate for you. Otherwise the route seemed quite complex.

How to get there on our own from the Cruise Docks without taking a tour.

It is a 25 minute car ride from downtown Halifax (cruise docks). If you take the ferry from Halifax to Dartmouth and the #60 bus it will let you off about a 1/2 mile from the area, otherwise you really need a taxi (expensive) or rent a car ( not worth it if only going there). It is not an easy place to describe how to get to - you would want to use a GPS.

We are taking a cruise that stops in Halifax. We want to go to Fisherman's Cove. You said you took the ferry from downtown and then the # 60 bus to get there. Is that difficult to find and do? Appreciate any pointers and help you can provide in assisting us to get there from the cruise docks.

Depending on your visit the shops are open until early November, you can take the Halifax/Dartmouth Ferry. On a weekday take the Ferry to Downtown Dartmouth and then catch the #60 Bus to Eastern Passage. The Ferry to Downtown Dartmouth runs every 15 minutes during the day and every 1/2 hour on weekends.
Or you could take the Ferry to Downtown Dartmouth, then take a taxi to Eastern Passage. Depending on how much time you have you can also book a boat ride out of the Fishermans Cove to deep sea finishing or touring McNab's Island.
Not sure what the cost would be for a taxi the Ferry Ride would be around $2.50 (correct change) and this would include a transfer for the bus. Then on the way back it would be 2.50 for the bus ride and that includes a pass for the Ferry. (if you are over 65 the costs is 1.75.
Hope this helps, I am sure if you ask someone would be pleased to help out.

We are a family of 5 and would like to try clam digging. Where can we go to do this???? Cost or a guide to show us???

Afraid I do not know the answer. The other two responses suggest contacting Dept of fisheries to grind out the season. Don't dig except just anywhere as you can get sick from clams dug in areas with Red Tide.
