We just moved to Louisville a year ago and the tour gave us a stronger appreciation for this great little town. It included a tour of a shop and a home from the 1800s.

Stopped at the museum and were so impressed. The displays were informative and the out buildings depicting life during the towns mining Era and boom, excellent. Wonderful books available for sale, one which we purchased outlining the historic homes of Colorado. The best part of the entire tour was our guide, Memory. She was a wealth of information and a... Its looks small from the outside but there are 3 buildings housing historical artifacts. It's delightful for local but equally interested for how life was a couple of generations ago. One building has an old general store with additional artifacts fit into the available space, another is an intact house with period furnishings and appliances, the third has a scale... More

There are some interesting exhibits in the this small town museum. I believe the house next door was ordered from the Sears Catalog! There are old photos and some memorabilia from the mining days. The museum has very limited hours, which are posted on the door. It's a nice ten minute diversion.

Bridget is the Best, very helpful. We were looking for street history, and she had old photos and map, which helped.

What a cool little museum, anything you might like to know about old Louisville, the ladies here will probably know it or something else like it. The museum has plans for expansion and already has 2 other buildings, one of which houses a model recreation of what Louisville looked like around the turn of the century, the other of which... We dropped in on the night we went to the Art Walk. The museum is very heavy on old photographs, but the people are very knowledgeable and friendly. There are some ineteresting things like the old curtains to the theatre, maps of where the coal mines are under the town and their depths. No admission fee but donations accepted.

The Louisville Historical Museum is located in the historic downtown of the former coal mining settlement. It uses historical photographs and other artifacts to tell the storied history of Louisville. The curator of the museum is a very friendly and knowledgable woman dedicated to preserving the history of her town. If you take the time to go on a guided... More

I was so pleased by my experience at this FREE museum, that I became a member of their Louisville Historical Society. I found the volunteers who worked there to be very friendly & helpful. The photos and information were quite interesting as was the tour of the nearby historical residence.
