The main town itself is about 10 historic buildings. There was a restoration project when we visited so half of the buildings are blocked off. It's a quaint little town but it only takes 5-10 mins to walk through it. Kids would enjoy feeding the...More

Getting there is half the fun. It’s a very nice drive into the mountains; while the last five or six miles are not paved, the gravel road is very well maintained so you don’t need an SUV, any car is fine. The ghost town itself...More

St. Elmo is located up a maintained dirt road. There is not much to do, but the view is great. When the snow has melted from the town, the chipmunks come out and you can feed them by hand. They are so comfortable around people...More

We took a ride up the mountain after horseback riding at Mt Princeton Stables to see historic St. Elmo. It takes a while to get up there, unpaved road waaay uphill. There was snow on the ground and bright sunshine when we got there. It...More

This is a nice day trip from Colorado Springs, I’m sure there is plenty to do in the summer months but it was beautiful in the winter!

Off the main road and up a mountain, but well worth the drive to take a glimpse into a time gone by. St. Elmo is not technically a ghost town, but an old town being rebuilt in accordance with its heyday. The highlight: feeding the...More

A beautiful drive into the National Forrest and great buildings with character. We were there before the tourist season so the store and Guest house were stilled closed.
