This trail starts off right along the road in s field but quickly turns into one of beauty and majesty. The rocks and water surround you from the tops, sides and bottom. I did not want to leave. Hike was fairly easy. Loved this one!

Falls were well worth the visit. Hike seems longer than 1/2 mile and can be treacherous in areas when raining. But if you take your time the hike up to the falls is gorgeous.

We loved this trail. While it is several miles long, we only went in about 1 1/2 miles and back out. It is an easy hike, with some not-so-steep ups and downs along the Piedra River (about 12 miles north of Pagosa Springs). It starts...More

Lots to see, not a hard walk, casual drive to arrive, variety of trail options, share with a horse or two, just feels like a trip to do many times

Worth the drive. About 30-40 minutes from a Pagosa Springs. A short 1/2 mile walk. A little tricky getting down to the falls, but it's a beautiful site.

My favorite thing about this trail is that you are almost always within sight, sound, or both of Piedra River, which just makes it special. Being 2 people with 1 car, we didn't shuttle for a longer option, but still very enjoyable. Only hike we...More

Just finished hiking this gorgeous trail. Very easy....up and down slopes. Stop at the river and soak your feet. Absolutely do not forget your camera!

you need two vehicles or a pick-up! start at Piedra river crossing on route 600/631, hike west for six hours + until you reach the bridge over the Piedra on route 166/622. Great views over the river and box canyons. Not too strenuous.

This is one of my favorite trails anywhere, due to the variety of scenery along the way, the relative ease of the activity, and the ability to keep going and going, if you choose. (Years ago we hiked far enough out to fly fish in...More

There is something to stare at around every turn in this trail. We hiked with six kids and two moms back to the river and enjoyed a rest and picnic lunch before heading out. A good mix of flat and hills, with the water almost...More

You could carry one in a carrier on your back quite a ways down the path, but I'd be careful allowing young ones walk on their on. There are some edges above the river early in the hike that wouldn't be advisable.
