While we take the art of winemaking seriously, we like to have fun too. A favorite since 1988, we're known for pioneering Colorado wines made from local grapes and fruit, with names like Laughing Cat, Cougar Run, and a Dinosaur series. Carlson Vineyards, a small farm winery, produces premium wines in the heart of Colorado wine country above the town of Palisade, at an altitude of 4700 ft. Grape wines: Riesling, T-Red (Lemberger), Sweet Baby Red, Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. Fruit wines: Cherry, Plum, Peach and Pearadactyl (Pear-Apple). Relax and savor the scenic vistas of the Grand Valley and Colorado River too. Located on Palisade's Fruit & Wine Scenic Byway around mile marker 6 on East Orchard Mesa.

Came to Palisade on a grils' wine tasting weekend and Carlson didn't disappoint. We got to do a wine tasting in the backyard, which was just gorgeous. All of the staff were incredibly friendly. Definitely a good stop if you like fruit wines!

Recommend this place for their 100% fruit wines. We stopped by at 10 am when they opened and they were happy to let us try as much as we'd like. Served in glasses (not plastic as a previous reviewer wrote). The tasting room is small...More

With so many superlatives what more can be said? We enjoyed our visit to Carlson. The “hosts” were personable and had a lot of humor. I love the fact that you can start at the top of their wine list and just work your way...More

Loved their "try everything" attitude. And so we did and loved enough to split a case. I loved Laughing Cat Riesling and Sweet Baby Red. Also loved the Peach wine. I would go back again!

During our stop at Talbott's Mountain Gold, it was recommended to use to stop here for Peach wine because they use Talbott's peaches. We arrived on Thursday around 3:00 p.m. and no one was there which was perfect for us. We received specialized attention tasting...More

We stopped at Carlson Winery because we were referred there for sweet wine options. I tried the Riesling, Peach and Cherry. I liked all of them. If you like a sweet or fruit wine selection, stop here.

This place got such great reviews, I was dying to give it a go. The tasting room was a zoo. No order and no idea where we should stand. We stood, with another couple, for at least ten minutes and then were waved up to...More
