We did Telluride to Gateway, it was fantastic, my greatest trip in several years. The system is not cheap but not having to carry the weight is "priceless". Huts are very well stuffed and have everything we needed and more. Maps provided worked as as expected. You must train for this kind of adventure, the fitter you are the more... More

We did a 2-night stay at Burn Hut and loved it! It was fully stocked with everything one needs for cooking full meals and the pit toilet was surprisingly clean. We took cross-country skis out, though, which was a big mistake with the icy conditions. I would recommend backcountry skis or snowshoes for anyone trekking to the huts in any... More

I am just going to keep this short. With the exception of a little pre-trip confusion on our trip actually showing in the the SJH2H calendar, this was a great trip. We met a cool couple that was booked for four nights of my group of five folks. We had a blast. The cabins were well stocked, the views unbelievable,... More

Six of us, all expert skiers, rented the Ridgway Hut for two days recently. The staff at SJH were super friendly, and they made sure we knew where we were going and where to ski (backcountry). At about 7 miles, it's not the easiest approach, but not too hard either. The most difficult section is crossing Beaver Creek drainage (we... More

I recently completed my second SJH trip (having done the Durango version three years ago). We had perfect weather for our trip, so conditions were excellent. Commenting on the previous review, this is an outdoor adventure, so riders need to factor in the possibility of adverse weather. The huts were in good shape and well provisioned, so we ate and... We had poor weather, lots of rain, and thus muddy trails. Made for tough times. Huts are a bit sparse and small, and lacked sitting chairs or a table inside. Cooking is limited to 2 small burners, with no sink, so you have to juggle water in out and washing is a challenge. For biker-oriented huts, they don't provide much... More

I am sorry that your group had rainy weather. These trips are definitely not for everyone. It can be hot, it can snow, it can rain, there can be mud. These are real MTB adventures and you can get real weather. I am sorry you found the huts sparse. We keep them stocked with more food than any group could... More

Second trip with San Juan Huts. A great adventure. Being totally disconnected for a week in great scenery with great friends is the definition of a great vacation!

I rode the Telluride to Moab route with a group of friends in August. I was pretty excited to spend a week riding the mountain bike, but the trip exceeded my expectations. The huts are stocked well enough that we were able to go fairly light (just carrying larger camelbacks) so the riding was a blast 'cause we didn't fell... More

I just finished the Telluride to Moab trip last week and had a blast. The riding was varied (technical single track to well-packed dirt roads) and there were great options for every level of experience and fitness in our group. The huts were comfy, stocked with great food, and clean. The day-by-day maps, directions, GPS waypoints and additional single-track maps... More

We did the Durango to Paradox trip in late July. It was a GREAT trip. The SHJS peeps did all in their power to make this an epic trip. The huts were well stocked with food and water, the maps & gps coordinates never got us lost... the views were nothing short of amazing. Ok, so the climbing was a... More
