This little park is kind of a shrine. For thousands of years, the native people (Nuche, or Ute) lived along side the Uncompagre River. Then the Whites forced them out at gun point, in a campaign of genocide. Dennis Weaver knew this, so he and...More

This is the perfect place to stop and have a picnic lunch, or read, or just enjoy the quiet beauty of the area. The park is small, but lovingly maintained, just 2 minutes off the highway going into Ridgway. I highly recommend it.

An unforgettable place with a truly outstanding piece of art. The eagle is flying. The site is very impressive with rocks placed all around. It is a very relaxing and respectful place to visit.

I enjoyed the poetry, how it was displayed, and the sculptures. Watching the river run was relaxing. I am very grateful to the Weaver family for creating this living memorial.

So beautiful. Thank you Dennis for saving a little bit of wilderness for others to enjoy. We loved the scenery and the fact that someone else found this area as gorgeous as we did.
