I booked the ATV tour along with the Durango-Silverton Train/Bus Combo. They were very good to work with. Our bus was late arriving in Silverton and It was raining and cool. Luckily San Juan Backcountry provided heavy duty rain gear and gloves. After an extensive briefing and getting geared up we headed out of town for the trails. The ride... More

We were out west for a family vacation and had called ahead to rent 2 jeeps for the day. When we arrived in Silverton (an hour drive from where we were staying) we found out that they had overbooked and only had one of the jeeps we reserved. When they found out their mistake, the employee did not apologize, but... More

We rented a Can Am Commander side by side from them to tour the old mine trails with our 2 sets of friends that brought theirs with them. My husband had called ahead to reserve it. We changed the date, and when he went to rent it, they had no problems. The owners 12 year old year daughter rented it... More

We took a guided ATV tour with San Juan Backcountry from the folks at the Durango-Silverton Railroad. It was a lot of fun and very scenic. Our guide: Michael Constantine, really wanted to make sure we filled our time and saw as much as possible. He took us to a nifty little slot canyon and waterfall that we never would... More

What an adventure! Tony Vowels was our tour guide when we experienced the beautiful terrain of Kendall Mountain in an open top suburban. Tony was a very fun and knowledgeable guide. Visiting the Silverton area was a truly memorable experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent ATV/Side by Side tour, climbing 5 passes over 12000' in one afternoon! Whilst a little(!) dusty, nothing we or they can do about that. Michael, our guide did a great job, engaging, knowledgeable & kept us moving - Thanks!

We had a fabulous time with our Suburban tour guide Michael Constantine…for San Juan Backcountry. He was extremely knowledgeable, experienced and took his time showing us the sites of Silverton’s mountains…California Gulch and over Hurricane Pass. It was a great afternoon, cloudy, light rain and some thunderstorms that only added to the continually changing landscape. We really enjoyed getting to... More

We paid for and reserved 3 side by sides and 1 four wheeler in May to be used on our vacation in August. We called in the middle of July to confirm and they couldn't find our reservation, but could see the $1163 we paid. They told us to come no problem. We called again the day before we were... More

Mike took us on two amazing scenic tours. He is very informative and knowable about the area. He is very passionate about Colorado. When in Silverton go sign up for a tour at San Juan and ask for Mike, you won't be disappointed.

Michael Constantine at San Juan Backcountry is the best tour guide that I have ever had at anything, bar none. Over and above the spectacular views that we saw (definitely bring a camera), Michael has an extensive knowledge of the San Juan Mountains, so it was an extremely informative and interesting tour. He also gave us valuable advice on what... More
