This is a beautiful hike unfortunately we went after a large snow. The trail was difficult to navigate but very beautiful. The drive to the trail also is a bit rough so make sure you have a decent vehicle. Great hike and will do again...More

This was our second time to do the Zirkel Circle. It's an ambitious hike, lots of elevation gain and over 11 miles long. A ranger told us this was 'The Crown Jewel hike of Steamboat' and it's so true. If you are from a sea...More

We went counterclockwise on Sept 13, took our time, great views. Unfortunately we lost a micro sd card on the trail, it is in the plastic case. If anyone finds it please call Brian 847-702-9240. Thanks.

This is a great hiking trail with breathtaking views at every turn. It is a easy hike on a well marked trail. Great water views along the paths.

We attempted to walk up to Lake Gilpen but, unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate. Rain, lightening, thunder and, finally hail made us turn back 1/4 of a mile from Lake Gilpen. The walk was a medium challenge and the views were spectacular

We drove north from Steamboat past Clark and turned right at Glen Eden to head to Mt. Zirkel Wilderness. Beautiful drive, most paved. We seemed to have the road to ourselves the whole way. Surprised to find the trailhead at end of road packed with...More

The last hike I did here was awful! Toilet paper, dog poop, and bar wrappers lined the trails. Dogs were running all over the place. Hiking was more like standing in line at some places. (It is beginning to remind me of the Hanging Lakes...More

Tried to hike today but had to turn back due to weather. Was disappointed in lack of maps in the area. No previous information on the fact the roads were dirt and rugged.

We had a beautiful dry hike on our particular day, we really enjoyed it. It’s worth the workout to take in the beauty. It’s a great trail with some rocks and a few steep inclines, but nothing alarming.

No, this can only be hiked, with that being said, one side is shorter than the other. It’s a little challenging with the elevation and different terrain, but you still may be able to make it from the lot up.

You can camp where you like. Just be sure to know the rules of a wilderness area, such as making camp off the trail and at least 100 ft from water sources. It's beautiful there! Have fun!

It's pretty rugged and rustic so I'm thinking that it's not.
