The Alpine Slide is temporarily closed..... there was a mud slide on the upper part of Howelsen Hill which shifted the lift towers. Until the towers are reattached to the bedrock, it is unsafe to operate the lift. The City is working on fixing the lift - as soon as it is safe to ride, we will re-open. Unfortunately, we do not have a set date as to when that will happen.

So much fun!

They wanted to ride again and again but we just let them do it once. We will return while we are here though. It's lots of fun! You have to be over 6 to ride alone so my son and I rode together. It's kind of two rides in one since you take the lift up to the top of... More

We were here for the triple crown World Series and saw this on the 1st day, at $9 a pop because so many of us rode it was a hoot. The ride isn't that fast for heavy persons as you create extra friction. I tried to find a cart where the wheels aren't worn down but couldn't. We went again... More

Decided to give this a try while vacationing in Steamboat. Cost is $12.50 a person, and decreases per ticket with larger groups. They haul you up to the top in a chair lift and hand you the 'sled'. I went with my wife and two girls. The first time down the sled would hardly move. I had to push myself... More

If you're looking for a slower (but fun) slide this is for you, it was a bumpy ride with slower/average speed. If you're looking for a fast ride/adventure you may be disappointed. The lines moved very quickly for weekend crowds. We asked our boys (ages 5 & 9) if they wanted to go again after the first ride neither were... More

We have a 4, 7, and 8 y/o kids and it was perfect for them!! The two older kids went by themselves with no problem or big risk. The 4 year old sat on my husband's lap. It Les not scary at all. We had a blast!!

This is a great option for folks with younger children. The youngest ones can ride with parents (that is what my 4 year old did) and have a great time. He was laughing all the way down. That being said, this might not have the same appeal to a teenager or adult as the carts can only go so fast.... More

My 9 and 10 yet old boys had awesome time. Made 2 runs each. Hubby and I paid to ride up on lift and watch them. The life ride was very enjoyable and relaxing.

This is a fun activity for people with small children but is not for thrill seeking adults. No matter how hard you try you just can't get going fast enough for real excitement
