Much more here than meets the eye from outside. Great outdoor displays bring the mining operations alive. Lots of displays and info inside--give yourself twice as much time as you thought. Begins with the first peoples here and comprehensively works through to the present, with lots of cool artifacts. Great for all ages. Open late Thursdays.

Chock full of history and beautiful exhibits. Well worth the walk up the hill and the $5 entry fee. The receptionist was very helpful.

We were in Telluride mainly to view Fall color. That was a little bit disappointing because we were a bit late -- too many leaves had fallen. So, we decided to visit the museum, not expecting much. But it proved well designed and very interesting, including a long, interesting video with longtime residents talking about the drastic changes in the... More

Great visit, we had our kids with us 12 and 15 they both enjoyed it, the lady at the desk was knowledgeable and helpful she explained so many interesting things to us and gave my kids a quiz sheet to fill they loved that and it made them pay more attention and read everything! Definitely worth a visit!

A good review of the Telluride area, mining, gambling and red light area. Covers the medical, the freighters and the madams. Also a good explanation of the fight between Edison's DC electricity and Tesla's AC. Outside is an exhibit of mining equipment

A good historical museum with lots of interesting stories of early Telluride - from Madams to Mountain Men and every thing in-between. Who knew this was the first true AC electrified town in the USA!

Great little museum to get an understanding of Telluride's beginnings, the mining industry and what life was like in the early years. Lot's of fun facts posted around the museum. Great exhibits.

The museum is on two stories of the building that once served as a hospital. It has many pictures and lots of text telling about life in 19th and 20th century Telluride. There are several artifacts as well as some interactive exhibits to compliment the photos and printed information. One interesting display covers Westinghouse development of the power plant near...
