Just outside Vail down 10+ miles of narrow gravel road is a slice of heaven. This is the kind of place you see pictures of but are so much more spectacular in person. We booked 1 night based on the reviews here. Driving our F-150,...More

First the bad news -- the 10 mile dirt, rocky road is not fun and is stressful unless you have a big, heavy 4-wheel drive vehicle. We drove our small SUV (4 wheel drive) and it was not easy (narrow roads and especially big drop-offs...More

Piney River Ranch is worth the drive! It's 10 miles of dirt road but you wont be disappointed. Spend the day, take a hike, have lunch in the restaurant or stay the night in one of the cabins. You can't beat the views!!

Really beautiful location, far from the highway. Super hikes all around. Bit of a bumpy dirt road drive to get there (which we think is fun, but may not be for everyone). Amazing wildlife. Fun to canoe and snowmobile.

As we went up the mountain, we saw several outfitters and their hunter clients camped to the side of the road, so we knew it would be a place to view the wilderness.

Drove up to do a day hike and what an amazing view. We did go into the Ranch store/restaurant to use restroom and bought the kids some snacks/ice cream. Pretty rustic up there; seems like it would be a cool place to stay overnight. The...More

I wasn't aware that they had overnight accommodations. I've only been there for day visits.
