My family loved the view. The drive there was very pretty. Kids loved the road that takes u there. We rented canoe there and that was a huge hit with kids. We would go back there again in a heartbeat.

My husband drove out to Piney Lake for one afternoon in September. We didn't stay there, we didn't hike, we didn't have time. Turns out, it was well worth it for the views alone and when we got there, a MOOSE was standing in the...More

Best thing to say is have your adventure and try it out for yourself. I found it beautiful, nice trails and decent food. A LOT of fun! It's a long slow drive though. Took us about 45 minutes on the dirt road.

In summer time, this is a great place to visit. 40 minutes away from Vail with different walking trails and wonderful views. Excellent place for picnics and family/friends gatherings.

My husband & I decided to check out the Piney River Ranch. It is 10.5 miles outside of Vail on very rugged, bumpy, unpaved, and narrow road. Once we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the ranch. Not only is it on the Piney River,...More

Our daughter got married on the lakeside deck outside the rustic wedding venue at Piney. With the water and mountains behind them, the setting could not have been prettier. The views from inside the spacious timber dining room were gorgeous. The room was warm, comfortable...More

Had read several reviews on the trip to Piney Lake so was prepared for the encounter. The road up, while bumpy and rugged, was much easier than anticipated. Did it in a rental SUV; wouldn't have wanted to do it in a low slung sedan....More

I wasn't aware that they had overnight accommodations. I've only been there for day visits.
