I'm not a very experienced skier (a few east coast places, Sierra Nevada in Spain, Breckenridge and now Beaver Creek). I can't really imagine a better place to ski for beginner/casual skiers. I would rate myself as high beginner / low intermediate. For the true...More

If you enjoy the apre of skiing almost as much as the skiing itself, then Vail is the BEST place you could possible go for a perfect week of skiing.

The food was good with price expected to be a little high, but the beverages for almost 7 dollars. On top of that, they do not offer military discount, which some of the neighboring ski resorts do.

Decent slopes and grooming. Less crowded than Vail and sometimes slightly better conditions, depending upon the snow conditions. Enjoyed the 1/2 day of skiing and got it a lot of runs.

It was ridiculous to see how untrained and slow the agents selling lift passes were. $159 a day doesn’t include aa knowledgeable ticket agent or a reasonable wait to buy them.

Only downfall is the lift tickets are as steep as the hill; however, the value is there because the mountain is so big it would take you over a week to hit everything.

Wait until you get to Colorado for the outer layers. You can probably buy your base layers online at better prices. If driving up from Denver, you may try the Outlets at Silverthorne (about 45 minutes from Vail on I70... More
