So this is one of those places that is not a bucket list item but it's still worth the time to go or to make the time to go. You need to go with an open mind and for the beauty of the area it's in. The castle has been a labor of love for 1 man these many years.... More

The Beautiful castle is built by Jim Bishop and he continues to add onto the building. You can make a donation to help him continue to maintain and build onto the castle. The castle includes beautiful stained glass work, I believe some of it was donated by some artists, beautiful iron work, and so much more to explore. I must... More

If you're passing through the area and have time, it might be worth a stop for a few min. But I'd never go out of my way for it. The owner is just as unstable as the structure he is famous for, and his ramblings on signs all over the place ruins what little enjoyment a person could get from... More

Awesome, free to enter, hand built castle. It truly is amazing to see. The drive is also very scenic. The castle is a little steep and you will be standing over grating very high up. If you have a fear of heights or tight spaces I would avoid it. Can be muddy if it has snowed or rained.

Truly, who would have expected a Gaudi-esk castle in the low mountains of Colorado?! This is an incredible feat of architecture, and an even more incredible feat given the inherent difficulties of construction due to the geography of the land. The castle's levels are broken into the 1st lower level, the 2nd level which has wonderful arches, the 3rd level... More

Pretty cool. It is still under work , but has some gorgeous stained glass and really cool stone work. Walking around up top was cool as well . FCC Florence which houses ADX super max is near and well worth a drive by also. Be sure to check that out too.

This was spectacular. It's hard to put into words. The spiral staircases reminded of blarney castle. I have lived in Colorado for 30 years and never knew about this. I will be recommending this to all my friends. Some of the railings at the top would definitely not meet osha standards. This adds to the thrill of it. There is... More

If you have never seen Bishop Castle, put this on your list to see. It is very, VERY, unusual. It can be a bit scary to climb to the higher portions of the castle, but a must to get to the stain glass room. If you cannot get around very well, would not suggest it, It is not level going... More
