Greenwich Ave was so much fun to walk. I was surprised by the number and variety of shops on the Ave. Had a great time exploring and even did a little damage. Walking distance (2 blocks) from the Delamar Hotel. Made for a perfect afternoon!

Lived in Greenwich over 40 years. In the winter drive up North Street to see the mansions. Go to Todd's Point in the winter (only residents in summer) also known as Greenwich Point and walk along the beach or go to the back of the park where there is a nice path overlooking Long Island Sound. The Bruce Museum usually has some interesting exhibits. The Audubon can be interesting as well as The Greenwich Education Center in Cos Cob (part of Greenwich). For children the Bruce Park Playground is fun, but not much else for them to do in town.

Greenwich offers some fabulous parks and interesting walks or bike tours. One must see is the Putnam Cemetery located off of Parsonage Road. It is one of the most unique and beautiful cemeteries in the United States. There are more exotic and trees and bush's in this cemetery than any park in the state. President Bush's Grandparents are burried here with a nice plaque explaing his service to this country. There is one stone marker explaining how a man loved his dog more than most people. There is a huge mosoleum valued in the millions that is based on the Acropolis. It is the resting place to the founder of evaperated milk.
Another must walk is at the Montgomery Pinetum located off of Bible Street. It is home to all the pine trees of the world. In this park is a garden education center with green houses. There is a trail system that goes for miles, and mountain bikes are welcome, but it is very lightly traveled.

Greenwich lives in its own privileged world. Greenwhich ave is full of itself and luxurious brands lineup one after another. Prices are ridiculously silly. But again, the local population tends not to be concerned by prices. If you want to see cool sports cars and hip people, the show is fun. If you are considering making purchases, break your piggy bank and bring your neighbor’s as well. :-)

I live in Greenwich, therefore my opinion could be bias or tainted. I will try to be
objective, helpful and definitely unbias.
We are missing the avenue we were browsing 35 years ago when we moved to Greenwich. The pharmacies have been replaced by a CVS , Woolworth became Saks, the candy store became J. Crew, Star Bucks dislodged a pharmacy, A Produce store became a bank. two Ice cream parlors which were serving real Ice Cream are long gone; instead a frozen Yogurt opened at the end of the avenue.
Greenwich is the capital of the hedge funds; a cosmopolitan town with a lot of wealth,
which gradually changed the innocence of the town and turned the avenue into a
mini Madison Avenue.
Today There are on the avenue half a dozen of Jewelers, few banks and a lot of eateries and nice restaurants, many chains including an Apple store, gift stores,
Bakeries, a Creperie, etc.
It is still nice to walk the 5 blocks on a sunny or warm day , window shopping or
real shopping and pick up one of the nice restaurants on the avenue for a good meal.
I recommend The National Restaurant for the savyy eater,
Morello for Italian food, Douro for Portuguese, Terra for brick Oven baked
chicken and Pizza.
If the visitor decides to walk one more block toward the water he/she will get to the Bruce museum which could make the journey and visit much more interesting. Also he/she will find the best restaurant to visit in Greenwich. It is on the water side. It is called L'Escale and it is a place not to miss.
Greenwich People are friendly and polite, If you need quarters for your meter
you will most likely find someone coming to the rescue, feeding the meter and not accepting to be paid back.

Half a day is ample time for the visit. Enjoy our town.

Many people profess their love for Greenwich Avenue; I live here & I don't. The stores along the sloping road that runs down to the Long Island Sound, main street in G'wich, are typical of any mall anywhere in the US: Ralph Lauren, J. Crew, Vineyard Vines, Verizon, Kate Spade - all those shops. All chain stores. Nothing original; nothing unique.

There are a few good restaurants, but far too few in my opinion.

However, the worst thing about Greenwich Avenue must be the people themselves: the people you walk by or interact with each day. Entitled, rude, dismissive of all they encounter, nasty behind the wheel, bratty kids, flippant in person. Slurping their Starbucks Vanilla Venti Latte as if it was some sort of status symbol. Nothing can ruin your day so much as a stroll down G'Wich Avenue.

All the woman (whether they are 9 or 90 years old) wear the same exact outfit: Lululemon yoga pants, Ugg boots and a Canada Goose Black Parka. It's sort of ridiculous. The men: boating shoes, a silly grin and whatever.

Plus, as unsporting as it may be to point out this fact, there are many, many "For Lease" signs in many store fronts up & down the Avenue - proof enough, if you needed it, that the USA is still in a bad way economically, even in the so-called more affluent areas.

Avoid at all costs.

If you're looking for a stop along your drive through Connecticut, Greenwich Avenue is the perfect place to stop for lunch and stroll along the shop-lined streets. It won't take you long to cover it as it is a very small area, but it is cute if you're in the area.

Greenwich ave is a good place to go to once or twice, they have many good restaurants and movie theaters but many of their stores are expensive although nice to shop at. it is much like a main street of anywhere else where people shop. its goo but not to go to all the time!

If you're familiar with Europe, particularly England, you'll know that in just about every town or city there is a "High" street. It's typically the most important business and commercial street. Greenwich Avenue is no different. It's a one way street from the top at the Post Road to the bottom at Railroad Avenue. It's about one mile in length and makes for a great day visit outside of Manhattan. GA boasts several luxury brands like Tiffany, Tesla, Betteridge Jewelers, Crump & Lowe, Saks Fifth Avenue and Richard's of Greenwich, although you can also find more affordable vendors like Alice and Olivia, even a CVS. GA has several restaurants from very casual and moderately priced like Putnam Diner and the Ginger Man to pricey eateries like The National and East End. If you enjoy art, there are several galleries on the Avenue including Arguimbaud Art Gallery, specializing in maritime and seafaring themes. On your visit there, you may find Peter Arguimbaud, owner and famous local Master whose background and achievements will leave a legacy much like the Dutch Masters. If you enjoy pampering, there are numerous beauty spas and nail salons. In recent years GA has gained an increasing diversity of foreign brands, visitors and residents. On any given day you may hear Chinese, Arabic, French, Spanish, Turkish, Portuguese, Russian or Hindi walking down the street. One word of caution when visiting. If you see policemen directing traffic, don't cross the street until they indicate its okay. It's for your safety and a tiny touch of what make this lovely town of Greenwich so unique.
