If you have some time in Groton and have to visit the UConn Avery Point Campus it is worth it to see the coastal scenery of CT. There is a nice path that wraps around the school The building itself is beautiful too!

This point on Long Island Sound is so easy to get to but many miss it. Only a couple of miles south of downtown Groton. Two good lighthouses to see!

You can only see the outside of the light house. Last year U-Conn instituted pay to park. You can access Avery point every other hour with the local bus system. The more interesting building is the Avery Point Mansion in the picture provided.

While Avery Point Light is tiny (can't enter but can walk around), the water views are great. It's a very attractive structure located on the UConn Avery Point Campus. To locate the light, just follow the brick pathway from the parking lot.

We found a beautiful secluded walkway and setting, at least this time of year when the UConn students are not present. The Avery Light Mansion has a really nice brick walkway interspersed with many art sculptures and memorial benches. The views of New London, Groton,...More

Love the artwork on the grounds, the scenery can't be beat, and the pathway with inspiring donation bricks and stone seatings along the grounds.
