Beautiful Falls
Apr. 2021 • Couples
We were at the Falls during February when they were frozen. It was beautiful. We returned last weekend to see them in spring. They were very impressive. There is a walking path that goes to the top of the falls forxa really nice view. The surrounding park has picnic tables, bathrooms and lots of open space for recreation. Parking is good but on a really busy day it will fill up quick. There is no admission fee to vehicles with Connecticut plates. Well worth a trip especially when there is plenty of water coming over the falls.

Definitely worth a stop in all seasons
Jan. 2021
Relatively easy hike (although a lot of steps) to see a number of beautiful waterfalls. Conveniently the park is right off the highway, and all the falls can be seen on a hike less than a mile round trip. Lots of open field space and picnic tables at the bottom, make this a great place to stop for lunch.

Small parking area, picnic tables, and steep narrow trail
Very pretty but tends to get crowded
Ricks can be slippery and dangerous

hidden gem

we visited this state park hoping to find a covered bridge. what we found was a beautiful trail with a gorgeous 4 tiered waterfall and we could get up close for photos.

Fall in New England at its finest
Oct. 2020
We normally head for Vermont and New Hampshire this time of year, but it did not work out. As an alternative we headed instead to Northwest Connecticut. This late in October it was no less spectacular then its northern counterparts. Kent Falls State Park seems to encompass all New England has to offer in the fall. The ride there on back country roads was stunning with fall colors just slightly past peak. While the park is not that large, there is no shortage of activities. The center of attention are the five falls and the trail up to the top. The trail is steep and a bit strenuous and is not for anyone with mobility or breathing issues. As you ascend there are several observation platforms allowing for better views of the falls. In addition there is a large green with benches and picnic tables,as well as a covered bridge over Kent Falls Brook, perfect for photo ops. There are bathrooms, and plenty of parking to the amount of $12 for those visiting from out of state. It is enforced! A great way to spend an afternoon.

Nice waterfall and a good spot for a picnic. However, if you are from out of state, you need to register to pay a $12 parking fee. That is not as simple as it says. You have to go through a service and wait on the phone or text them to make the payment. While staff senses the problem, they inndicate fthat the state does not want to provide the necessary harware to collect the fees on site. This takes away from the visit for non-Connecticut citizens. It is, at best, just an average setting anyway, so out of staters should perhaps pass on this one. There are many other better sites in NYS and around Connecticut.

Not a large enough park to warrant the ride from out of state (NY) and you will get charged $15 for not being local. I believe they use the money to pay the park attendants, mostly seniors and teens who are everywhere enforcing the rules. If you don't get there early, at least 11:00 AM, they close the parking lot and you've made the trip for nothing.

Day at the park
Sep. 2020
Nice place to visit in the Fall as the leaves are turning colors. Climb to the top is steep but there are good handrails all the way up. Leaves can be a problem after the rain.
Being a senior citizen, restrooms are essential and the park has very well maintained facilities.

CHECK for DROUGHTS first
Sep. 2020
Biggest tip I can give - if you are going to view the waterfall and take photos - check about drought years. I planned a big trip around this location and although I see the possibilities it offered, I was highly disappointed that the water was basically trickling down the falls.

I did walk ALL the way to the top (and yes, it's not for faint of heart, very STEEP, although only about a quarter mile up.

The parking attendant leaves at 4pm (at least she did this day) and she explained, because we had no cash to pay the 15 dollar fee, to come back and pay it online before midnight. Which we did and so with the $2 service fee we paid $17 to see a TRICKLE of water.

**But like I said, it has potential indeed. A cute little covered bridge, lots of space to run around and explore the trails and water falls and take photos if the water was actually there.

Amazing park
Feb. 2020 • Family
We happened upon the falls when passing by on our way to Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall. We stopped on our way back and hiked up to the top of the trail. It’s gorgeous, but some of the wire railings were in disrepair and despite the warning signs everywhere, lots of people went to the top of the falls, where there was no railing.
