Vale da Ribeira is steeped in history dating back to the Romans,and throughout the town plaques explain the cultural and industrial story. If you are visiting the area,driving into Serta is well worth it,head for the Casa Cultura in the centre of town and take relaxed coffee beside the river,its chilled,natural and friendly. Cross the Roman bridge to find a restaurant and outdoor bar serving local dishes and great bar snacks,always brilliant value for money. We stayed in Serta for 2 weeks and the scenery was beautiful especially around the river and it's many bridges. Lovely for a stroll any time of the day.
