Growing up going to Madison all of the time, Hammonasset was always a great destination where it definitely feels like summer. Food stands, people, it's a great place to come with family. The beaches aren't spectacular, because it is the Long Island Sound, but the overall feeling of coming to this park in the summer is really special.

This is a state park that not only provides access to Long Island Sound but the Megs Point Nature Center, campgrounds, and hiking & biking trails. There is a reservation system for the campgrounds.

This is a lovely place to go beaching, walking, hiking. Lots of work is being done here so next summer it should be even better but I'm very happy I live in the same town and visit often

The sky over Hammonasset Beach is constantly changing and always beautiful. There is a very long stretch of wide sandy beach and a 1/2 mile or so of rocky shore line as well. The bird life is excellent, and on windy days there are often kite surfers to watch, In the summer you can see seals sunning themselves on the... More

The state of Connecticut seems to spend generously on this state park and its paid off. The walking paths, beaches, nature center and open areas are well worth a trip in the off season. Whether you are kite boarding, bike riding, birding or walking the paths along the shoreline it's all right there just off I-95.

Hammonasset is a beautiful, 2 mile long sandy beach within a State park just north (east) of downtown Madison.. As residents of the area we purchase an annual pass and go frequently - non residents will need to pay an entrance/parking fee during the summer months. It understandably attracts quite a crowd in summer - very clean, nice sand, great... More

I grew up near this beach and worked here for 2 summers while going to college. The beaches and facilities are very good. The Nature Center (where I worked) is a neat place to find out about the animals that live close.

Well, most come to access the beach...or to camp. We came one glorious Sunday morning to walk...stroll really. One of those stunning October mornings when nature struts! So we didn't even make it to the beach, we encountered no campers, but we did find many, like us, just accessing these lovely acres on this special morning. And the views below... More
