What a wonderful museum and kid friendly to boot! Spent the morning there recently with 3 boys ages 2-7. We had a great time looking at the dinosaurs, nature scenes, and Egyptian artifacts including an actual mummy and sarcophagus. There was even a hands on area for them to play and get a closer look at some cool bugs and... More

The Peabody is a smaller museum that is perfect for younger kids. It's easy to navigate and you can pick-and-choose areas to visit without a lot of extra walking. There is an interactive touch-and-feel room on the second floor - with an added bonus of a great view of the dinosaur exhibit. As my children grew, we would take on... More

The building seems small from the outside, yet the collection is very well rounded. The hall of dinosaurs and hall of mammals each feature huge painted murals showing evolutionary timelines. They are wonderful.

The Mineral Gallery was recently renovated, updated and reopened. It includes some wonderful, big, bold specimens that are bound to appear plus a new collection of exceptional gemstones, The Cora Miller Collection. Take the kids!

This is an excellent place to bring a child for their first visit to a museum. The exhibits are older but that is part of the beauty of the place. I still remember the thrill of seeing the nearly complete mounted skeleton of a Brontosaurus over 50 years ago. Also has a Stegosaurus as well as numerous dioramas depicting various... More

I went here with my family - wife and two daughters, aged 11 and 5 - and they all loved it. The dinosaur exhibit is fantastic and the section on the gem stones is really well done. You can see everything in about two to three hours. It's truly an exceptional museum. I would strongly recommend it.

Step back in time and tour a museum that has never left the 1960s. Most exhibits are old-fashioned stuffed dioramas. The staff needs a lesson in customer service. Especially the young woman named Jessica who was the self-proclaimed gatekeeper on the 3rd floor who was so rude to guests! In contrast to her arrogance there is a wonderful gem in... More

I thought my teenagers would think it was lame to go here, but they loved it. There is something interesting for everyone of all ages!

I've been going to the Peabody since I was a little girl and have brought my children as one of their first cultural adventures and now bring my grandkids. It is always a place of wonder. Their big attraction is the fantastic collection of dinosaur skeletons! There are enough to engage the imaginations of the little ones without being too... More
