It's true that the extremely limited shops in New Pretention -er, Preston, sorry - most of which are home shops at least in part - carry good quality items presented in a gracious and lovely manner. But I didn't see anything in Privet House that looked wildly different from things I see in other home shops and nothing interesting that caught my eye. As far as Privet Lives nextdoor goes, if a marble dog bowl for $800 is your thing, I guess this place is for you. While I was there for a Dog Day the town had, a woman picked up a ceramic bowl in Privet Lives and commented that it was a bit too expensive for her. The lasy behind the counter responded, "Well, the ceramic bowls are the most gently priced." Really? This is the stuff of which comedy skits are made. Right down to the fact they have a big sign up thatt hey hope you like your purchase because there are no refunds. Of course not. People who spend a grand on a dog bowl and a collar charm don't care about refunds. And who would ever want to return anything from this Store to End All Stores? Only a Neanderthal. This place takes its cue from ABC Home in Manhattan: All Overpriced All the Time, and if you don't like it, you can go find somewhere where everything is more "gently priced" for the likes of the hoi polloi. Head on over to Dollar General. Don't need (or want, which is telling) anything they have to offer.

Been buying from this home furnishings company for many years. Bought all 2016 Christmas odds and sods from them. Always worth a visit, even window shopping, any time of year.

I always stop at Privet House when I'm in the New Preston area. It's beautifully curated, the wares are beautifully displayed, and their efforts show. I'm always inspired by their use of colour and take great ideas from their aesthetic.

Great shop to browse with a really excellent eclectic collection, have a look at their imported bathroom lotions and bath salts, top of the line. I also took home some really well made kitchen accessories and a great couple of vintage books to give as gifts. Worth the trip.
