Fort Stamford welcomed Washington during the revolution. It is quieter now and the ruins are modest. However, the park is a pretty and peaceful spot to get away from it all. It is green and verdant. There are trails down to the Mianus River. The gardens are lovingly cared for by volunteers. A visit is a good way to destress.

Fort Stamford was a very nice stop. A few ruins are still able to be seen and gives you an idea of what early america was like in the area. Some trails to wander upon

If you're looking for a place to let your children play this isn't the park. With it's beautiful gardens it's more of a peaceful place to come and decompress. Bring your Yoga Mat, your camera or a picnic and enjoy the peace within these gardens.

If you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful spot to just rest and relax, this is it. The gardens are gorgeous and it is a nice place to picnic. It is small and it is not a popular spot so it is quiet. Just a little out of the way spot that would be perfect for that weekend ride and... More

This is a small, quiet, delightful and I think fairly unknown Stamford City Park, with an especially beautiful little formal garden meticulously maintained during the warmer months, right on the site of a Fort that had been constructed during the Revolutionary War to protect the area. There is space for a few cars, and a restroom area. This is a... More

The Stamford Garden Club has maintained the Goodbody Garden since 1976. I go there occasionally when the plants are at their peak. I'm impressed with their civic devotion. There's not a lot left of Fort Stamford, but it is nonetheless less an important site, a reminder of the Revolutionary War and the British Invasion.

Some people never go sightseeing in their own backyards. Fairfield county residents, or visitors to the Stamford area may miss this little North Stamford sanctuary that is a restored Revolutionary Fort (with four "redoubts" ), originally belonging to the Siwanoy Indians. Later, a family named Goodbody owned the land and there is a gorgeous garden, tended by the Stamford Garden... More

Fort Stamford was only a mile and a half from our home when we lived in Stamford. We liked going there to view the gardens to get some ideas for our own. It is a pretty place for a small wedding actually. There are picnic tables and grassy areas, which is nice, but no restrooms is a bit challenging if... More

Im not into gardens but this place was excellent for my wedding photos. I'd recommend it to anyway who enjoys a quiet place to read a book, have a picnic or take photos for a special event such as a wedding.
