We did the Hobbiton night tour finishing at 10:30pm so thats would be a drive back to Rotarua. We stayed in Hamilton for the caves Matamatta for Hobbiton and at Rotarua to see that.

You take a coach bus from the gift shop/cafe to Hobbiton! We went in late August and our group was 15-20 people. I'm sure that the bus could have held more people, it definitely was not 'tourist season' when we went. I... More
