A beautiful area to walk in. Easy mostly flat trails along the Shepaug River through woods full of moss and lichen covered rocks and ferns. The river is clear with mini rapids and the Thoreau Bridge. We liked the Bee Brook loop walk accessible from...More

I have been hiking these trails for decades, mostly with my dog. They are for everyone as some are flat and easy, while others are hilly and challenging. You can ride horses on some by the Shepaug River, and there are areas for picnics, barbecues,...More

Although there are three trails one can hike, we chose to stay on the level road that runs along both side of the Shepaug River. We were looking for a place that we could walk our dog and remembered Steep Rock as a dog friendly...More

Lots to see along the way and to discover, not at all boring. Great for families. Enough uphill to keep your hear pumping. Beautiful frozen river scenery and well maintained. Signage could be a bit better.
