Northwest Park contains a number of biological ecosystems situated along the Farmington River the numerous trails are a fine way to get some exercise. There is a nature center, a small petting zoo for younger children who find that quite enjoyable, check their website for various events like Maple sugaring, cross country skiing, pancake breakfasts, and various musical events throughout... A phenomenal park serving the public in many ways. Soccer fields, hiking trails of varied lenghs and including a Braille trail, areas for snowshoes and skiing. Hike to the reservoir, visit the farm animals, see maple sugaring. Wonderful picnic area with playground, large fields, tobacco museum. Many areas for large and small groups to gather, but plenty of space for... More

Went with my daughter to go for a walk, have a picnic and take some time to relax together. Lots of room for games (like frisbee, tailgate toss, etc)

I adore Northwest park! The trails are fantastic and you can bike on most of them which makes exploring and exercising more fun! There's several that have views of the river, which make a nice spot to break. The animals are always great to see and they for the most part respond positively to visitors. Gorgeous park, I will be... More

We found this park by looking for a local dog park to take our dog. We bypassed the dog park and went for the trails. There are a number of trails that are well maintained. There is a nature center with a number of animals as well as cows and mules. Great place any time of the year.

The trails are marked but look for a map if no one in your group is familiar wth them. It's a big park and dark by 4PM in November. Lots to interest kids at the entrance, long walks for even the less athletic.

They have a nature center, petting zoo, and stables. I loved the hike. It is perfect if you have a dog. There is also a dog park. Young kids will love this place year round.

Northwest Park, which may undergo a name change soon, is a best kept secret. There are many in Windsor who don't know it exists. If you hike, like quality musicians performing in an intimate space, bringing children to enjoy meeting farm animals, pancake breakfasts, watching maple syrup being made, cross country skiing, a genuine old fashioned country fair, wild life... Fairly flat for hiking. Some open trails, dome more wooded. Cool beaver pond, and one trail runs along Rainbow reservoir. Ok for cross country, but not groomed. Snow shoeing too. Picnic parallel ion, animals, small nature center buildings.

Thank Linda P
