Door was left open

Glad I got to see this historic landmark although sign said door was locked. Simple but very impressive.

This is like a serious time warp trip-the church is ancient. You can feel the old revival meetings from 200 years ago. Even better, the cemetary is even older. Has that haunted creepy feel. They give you brochures to do a walking tour which is nice.

This is located on Water Street in Dover, a block removed from the Colonial Green. It is a beautiful building, very old. We have attended several weddings here, which are especially beautiful at night in candlelight. They often host classical music concerts here, which is nice.

Take your time. There are many things to see- from stained glass windows to embroidered kneeling cushions. The parish is very hospitable. The graveyard is well maintained and worth walking through.

My husband I walked around the church and cemetery and it really was peaceful. We were hoping the church would be open but it wasn't. My husband's family can be traced to Dover and we were hoping to find a trace of the name in the cemetery but didn't. We still enjoyed our walk though and tried to imagine what... More

In an era where tolerance of others is lacking, Christ Church is a haven for those who accept all those willing to tolerate others. We now have six family members who attend regularly. The buildings and grounds are literally a piece of the American Colonies preserved for almost 300 years.

Christ Church donates their building for the community organization I am involved with (Kent County LGBT group). I know they also hosted HIV/Aids testing. I have not attended church service.

Christ Church is a Dover institution in the downtown area within walking distance of the Old State House, Legislative Hall, the Green, and Loockerman Street, which is downtown Dover's Main Street. The church grounds are lovely and there's a meditation/prayer circle for walking outdoors. Services are held on Sundays and also Wednesdays around noon. Liberal philosophy church welcoming all.

If you're in the downtown Dover area it's really a no brainer to take the short walk to Christ Episcopal Church. The church is stunning and the grounds are incredibly beautiful and tranquil. They have a meditation/prayer circle that is wonderful to check out. The graveyard is also really pretty.

My husband and I live in Virginia and visit Dover pretty regularly and on the last two visits, dropped by Christ Episcopal Church for the 10AM Sunday Worship Service. We're United Methodist, but have become disenchanted with some of UMC politics and policies. The Christ Church grounds and church building are historic and beautiful. The people are very welcoming and... More
