The setting here is really beautiful, especially when you get to the lookout and see out to the ocean. The history is interesting, we enjoyed reading each sign as we came to them, however we found ourselves wanting more. Maybe if some of the buildings...More

Old barrack, large mounted guns and an old observation tower you can climb to the top to get and idea of what it was like for the coast watchers of WWII. Pluss a burst of unexpected birds.

Love the recreations of WW2 era and the firing of the guns is amazing. Looking forward to lantern light tour of bunker this year. Amazing to just walk around, and learn new aspects of our history

We were not even aware this was in the area where we were visiting BUT we were very pleased when we came across this site! Even on a day in February, off season!, it was crowded and we had a great time visiting here!

You can first climb the World War II observation tower and have a good birds view at the adjacent Fort Miles area. Afterwards it seems easier to visit and explore. You can visit old barracks, observation towers and see the cannons and fortifications.

The museum was closed the day we visited, but the public signage is sufficient to get a good idea of the history of Fort Miles. You can visit old barracks, see the guns used to target German subs, and even climb one of the concrete...More

As far as I know, the only place dogs are not allowed is on the beach during summer time.

The only admission is to enter Cape Henlopen State Park which is $5 for DE residents and $10 for non-residents. I believe admission is free in the winter. The best time to visit Fort Miles is for an enactment weekend. Check... More
