Our beach was not well kept, people left broken chairs , umbrellas around . It was not crowded where we stayed but definitely crowed not to far from us. We were straight up from Anglers road. Lots of rocks and not swept like most beaches...More

We did a beach day while on vacation in Lewes. Actually, I think it was only a couple of hours, if that. I can't lie, I just didn't like the beach. I know others won't have the same opinion (and I may get flack for...More

This is a glorious beach. The beach is long enough for a morning jog, or after dinner stroll. We were there during the week the horseshoe crabs deposit their eggs. Fascinating!

Lewes doesn't have the flair of other DE beaches like Rehoboth or Dewey. There's no boardwalk or nightlife. It doesn't have the waves either. Which makes it perfect for a family with small children! The waters are calm, so you can feel a little safer...More

Beach is on the bay facing NJ & ferry route. Quiet & easier access compared to Rehoboth Beach. Town has 2 bay beaches with metered parking, and several open sea beaches in state park with small day pass fee.

Very well kept and no beach tags. Not too crowded either. You can drive on the beach in certain areas.

Clean white sandy beach with limited on site parking. On Delaware Bay. Short distance to historic downtown, marina and restaurants.

Clean and quiet beach. Nice place to create some great family memories! Would of loved to have been able to spend more time at this beach. Plenty of nice benches to relax and watch families play. We went after 6 pm, and were able to...More

We liked it at Lewes Beach actually better than Rehoboth Beach. It was my first trip to anything in delaware. Lewes Beach is less crowded, no boardwalk so very few people, friendly people (made a new friend there who I'll keep in touch with). We...More

This beach had fewer people than a lot of the other beaches which I loved. We did not have to pay for parking, but I believe that is only because it was still early May when I visited. I would have spent a lot more...More

What is the water temperature like in the summer months? I'm looking for warmer water (unlike on Cape cod where it's cold atlantic water)

It's a pretty shallow beach for an extended distance out and not a lot of strong waves. I'd recommend going down to Rehoboth or Dewey for more wave action. Either one is a short drive from Lewes.
