This was a delightful way to spend on a day when the weather was not the greatest. It's a beautiful museum and not overwhelming. The only thing I didn’t like were the security guards walking around at a good pace particularly every time you turned around. This is an art museum not a prison. The grounds are beautiful. Don’t miss... More

The Delaware Art Museum is well designed and the permanent exhibits are thoughtfully hung. It has a nice sampling of American artists-- from the cohorts of Robert Henri and John Sloan, to the Pre-Raphaelites, to more modern fare. It has a better than average representation of women artists as a percentage of the whole. The Howard Pyle illustration exhibit was... More

The sculpture garden caught our attention, and there were some interesting pieces but it was smaller than we expected. It was a beautiful February day and we did enjoy it a lot. The giant was worth the trip all by itself, and the kinetic sculpture was shining in the sun and moving in the wind and quite nice. Inside there... More

The Delaware Art Museum can be very proud of their collection of works by regional artists and general collection of American Art. The pre-Raphaelite collection is stunning and world class. Some nice contemporary works as well.

I loved this art museum. I went with my elementary and middle school age children. The sculpture garden outside was fun to see and you can walk to the maze that is outside. On Thursday nights and Sundays, they have art activities for kids. There is also a room full of art things and books downstairs. I loved their collection... More

I visited the Delaware Art Museum today and it was one of the best tours I’ve been on in a long time. For a local, provincial museum, it has an impressive collection. Pyle’s works and the Pre-Raphaelites are my favorites but I left today with a new favorite, Eleanor of Aquitaine, by Grace Hartigan. More of a history nerd than... More

The Delaware Art Museum is the creation of William Bancroft and many other visionaries who once lived in Delaware and had the welfare of the community at heart. It contains the finest collection of pre-Raphaelite paintings outside Great Britain and has important special collections, such as that of John Sloan and Helen Farr Sloan, his widow as well as an... while the center piece is the famous red heads (BRITISH PRE-RAPHAELITES) there is also some good illustrator art and an amazing chihuly flower bridge.

Many exhibits and more rooms than I thought was possible to have under one roof. It was my first time visiting the Delaware Art Museum and it was a great opportunity to spend 90 minutes or so looking at some amazing artwork.
