Ruth Eckerd Hall's near perfect acoustics have received rave reviews from...

Ruth Eckerd Hall's near perfect acoustics have received rave reviews from artists, technicians and audience members since opening in 1983. Combined with state of the art equipment, comfortable amenities and world class entertainment, it's no wonder that it has been recognized as one of Tampa Bay's best concert halls numerous times as well as a finalist for Pollstar's Theater of the Year twice. In 2003, the Hall's audience chamber received a complete refurbishment, its 2,180 seats were reconfigured to accommodate more patrons with disabilities, and lobby and restrooms were expanded.Ruth Eckerd Hall has continental-style seating. Almost every patron prizes a center seat and continental-style provides the maximum possible. There are no support columns, no obstructed views. Seating is sloped and staggered. For safety and comfort, the aisle space is wider than traditional layouts; entry and exit can be made while patrons remain seated. There are 14 sets of double doors leading out from the audience chamber. With this configuration, a full house can be cleared in a matter of minutes.Among the original community leaders who conceptualized building a performing arts center this side of Tampa Bay, was Jack Eckerd. During construction, Mr. Eckerd designated a significant contribution as a birthday gift to his beloved wife, Ruth, making the dream a reality. The Hall proudly bears her name.

I have gone to see about 8 different acts at Ruth Eckerd Hall since December of 2012. I've seen Eddie Vedder, Mike Tyson, Kathy Griffin, Billy Idol, Collective Soul, Live, etc.. They all sounded great and there isn't a bad seat in the house. The staff is always friendly. The only issue I have is the one entrance/exit out of... More

I have seen several shows at Ruth Eckerd, and it is a great place to see a show in an upscale theater without the "arena" experience. I've seen Heart, Dennis DeYoung, Alabama, and Ron White there, to name a few- all were fabulous, and the acoustic construction of the venue really enhances the experience. Highly recommended.

This is a more quaint venue but that's exactly why you will like it! The acoustics, the ushers, the seating is very inviting to see a show. I have seen 5 concerts here and really hope they continue to book the level of talent we have seen there. Great place to see a comedy show as well. I highly recommend... More

We've been here many times for many events and pretty well have parking, entries, etc figured out. This time was for Steely Dan which was a great concert. There was a pre-party (band) playing and we did choose to do the buffet which actually was quite good. It included one drink (wine or beer) and the entrees that evening were... More

My family and I purchased tickets for Steely Dan through a browser on our cellphone. Quick note, don't order tickets on a cellphone with them. We were sold 3 tickets but they were 3 different seats in 3 different areas of the venue so we couldn't sit together. When ordering the tickets there was no map or menu I could... More

I'm a lifetime resident of Tampa Bay and have been to "many" concerts here, over the years.. This is my second favorite place to see a concert in the Tampa Bay area (after Tampa Theater). Ruth Eckerd Hall and Van Wezel Hall in Sarasota are both designed by the same person and both theaters are the same acoustically, (excellent). They... More

We had an amazing time at the hippy fest 2013. The seats were awesome. The parking and bars were ample, and easy to find. We have never eaten there before so we tried the pre dinner buffet. It was good food( a bit to garlicky) on all dishes, but hot and good. We were standing with others in the midst... More

Concert/Musical/Play, Ruth Eckerd Hall is a great venue to see just about anything. It is small enough to remain intimate, large enough to accommodate many people.

I do not think that there is a bad seat in the house. Very comfortable seating, great views, very good acoustics. Great to see former headliners in an intimate setting.

We just attended a concert at this arena in August 2013. It was a horrible experience to say the least. The air conditioning was not working at all, which was ridiculous for a venue charging over $150 per seat for an event. While this is an intimate venue, the seating is ridiculous. The rows only have an exit on either... More
