Stetson Mansion is a spectacular Victorian mansion built for famed hat...

Stetson Mansion is a spectacular Victorian mansion built for famed hat maker and philanthropist John B Stetson in 1886. Situated right between Orlando and Daytona in DeLand makes it convenient for all visiting the central Florida area. This is Florida's first luxury estate and houses some of the most beautiful and intricate parquet floors in the world. The mansion has hosted such noted guests as President Cleveland, King Edward VII, the Astors, the Vanderbilts, Louis C Tiffany and Thomas Edison. In fact this is one of the first homes in the world to be designed and built with Edison electricity and Mr Edison oversaw the install himself. This is not your typical Victorian mansion though. The owners have painstakingly renovated every square inch of the 10,000 sq foot masterpiece while incorporating today's modern conveniences. All this was done without compromising the architectural or historical integrity. Every room on every one of the three floors is magnificently decorated and every room features a different style floor and window design. There is not one room that is off limits for visitors to see on their guided tour, you get to see it all including the owner's suite and the original 1886 schoolhouse which has been lovingly restored and converted to a "Zen"like cottage. There is also a beautiful meditation garden, gazebo and pool area for visitors to enjoy. Reservations are required $20-$30 per person $10 for children. Payment is cash or check at the door and we do charge applicable sales tax.

I visited the Stetson Mansion during the Christmas holidays and loved it so much I recently returned with my finance and four of our neighbors. Everyone enjoyed the tour of the exquisitely detailed mansion. Michael Solari and J. T. Thompson did and outstanding job bringing life back into the mansion which was in disrepair when they purchased it in 2005.... More

This is a must see if you enjoy hearing about a bit of history as well as seeing the stunning mansion. The tour guides are extremely knowledgable and know the history as well the details of the restoration of the mansion. The woodwork and flooring are amazing. This is well worth your time.

My husband and I and my parents visited the mansion in December when it was all decked out for Christmas and it was breathtaking! We loved it so much we went back last week when we had friends visiting and got to see it without all the decorations and it was just as breathtaking - the restoration was obviously done... More

What a delightful afternoon spent touring the winter residence of a turn of the century icon. A friend of the Ford's, Flagler's, Rockafeller's and more, they were frequent visitors. The mansion has been restored to its glory days. Definitely worth a visit!

Wonderful place to visit. Robin our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. There is just something special about knowing you are in a restoration that people live in and that is a true work of love. The history seems to come more alive and mean more when seen that way. We were fortunate to receive a surprise visit from one of... More

I took my brother and his wife to DeLand today to tour the Stetson Mansion. We were all VERY impressed. The two women that gave the tour were very knowledgeable and made everyone feel comfortable. We had a surprise visit from JT, which we appreciated, he thanked us for coming, but I felt we should have been thanking him for... More

Visited the mansion during Christmas and it was beautiful. Decorated wonderfully for the holidays. Just returned and brought our friends and the architecture was even more amazing. A must see if in Central FL. JT and Michael have done a fabulous job with the restoration. And gracious hosts to open their home. Thank you.

This is a "must " for Florida residents as well as Florida visitors! Robin was entertaining and very informative! This was my wife's third trip to the Mansion` the first trip when she was a graduate student at Stetson University (She was not impressed due to the run-down condition), the Christmas tour, and now the Historical Tour! We both are... More

My second visit offered up additional features that I missed on my first visit. The wood floors on the first floor are indescribable. The craftsmanship that made the inlaid patterns could hardly be done today. The current owners, who live there, have given us an opportunity to go back in time and to see how a modern upgrade can be... More
