DeLand was once a huge training hub for WW II. This museum tells the stories of men who were shipped to DeLand from all over the country. Men like my father. Men who left their homes with a since of duty and opportunity. Some chose DeLand for their homes and futures. The museum is a microcosm of their lives and... More

Spent about an hour reviewing the exhibits. Alot of the exhibits have a direct connection to the DeLand NAS. The museum itself was the Master at Arms' quarters. It is a small building and can be crowded. There is a restoration hanger in back where volunteers are restoring aircraft. The volunteers are very knowledgeable.

A great little museum in Deland. They have a great little setup and cover the history of the Naval air station that was once located at the what is now deland airport.

While the attraction occupies a very small space, there is a plethora of information at your disposal immediately upon your arrival. I got to come quote close to a PT boat, a F14-B, a helicopter used during the Korean War, and was able to see the partial reconstruction of another war plane that they are currently restoring. If you are... More

This is a must see for veterans and those interested in armed forces memorabilia. The folks that work there are knowledgeable about the exhibits and can give you a wealth of information on the part that DeLand played in local history during several wars. It may be a small exhibit but if you want to spend some quality time exploring... More

This small museum at the Deland airport is a real gem. Lots of artifacts from WW II, Korean war, etc. The museum is staffed by knowledgeable veterans who know the story behind every artifact. And there are planes (F14, TBD Devastator) that are being restored. If you are visiting Volusia county, do not miss this museum. Caution - call ahead... More

Set right in the middle of the large complex that now makes up the Deland airport, this small museum provides numerous memories of World War II. The Deland Naval Air Station was the training ground for pilots joining the War on both fronts. The museum is filled with a full array of pictures, uniforms, medals, aircraft models, letters, etc. that... More

But STUFFED with information about Naval Pilots from the time the little airport was a Naval Air Station. Too bad they only follow pilots, because we came hoping for information on a flight mechanic. If you served here, you can donate memorabilia and they make it into a 'binder' to put on display. Cool!

Not a big place but, a museum working on preserving DeLands Navel past. DeLand was one of many training grounds for WW II pilots and support personnel. This museum is building a great base for a much greater exhibit of our past. If you go on saturday, you can help restore one of their fabulous restoration projects! Every time I... More
