About
The Cornell Art Museum, located on the Old School Square campus in downtown Delray Beach, strives to show contemporary artists who create innovative and provocative works of art. Inquisitive visitors enjoy intriguing pieces of artwork while discovering new artists and styles. The Museum exposes the Delray Beach community to artwork that is culturally relevant and exciting, hoping to foster creativity and inspire imagination. Museum shows typically begin with a theme and blossom into dynamic group exhibitions that excite visitors from all backgrounds. Old School Square is the center of arts & entertainment in downtown Delray Beach. Serving for over 25 years as the community’s gathering place, the historic campus includes the intimate Crest Theatre (in the restored 1925 Delray High School building) the Cornell Art Museum (in the 1913 Delray Elementary building), and the Fieldhouse (c. 1925). The Pavilion, which opened in 2002, hosts outdoor concerts and festivals. The Creative Arts School (located on the second floor of the Crest Theatre) offers art, photography and writing classes.

Lovely rehabbed building with interesting exhibits. We were lucky enough to catch the local Surfing and Skateboarding Exhibit and enjoyed it thoroughly. The docents were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I did not reflect this in my rating of the museum proper, however, be aware, the parking situation is difficult and expensive.

Stopped here on a First Friday Art Walk and were impressed by the quality of art on display. The old school has been lovingly restored, and is an inspirational place for artists to display their works. Well curated and worth visiting.

This was a big surprise. The museum is small but the collection is a lot of fun. I think this is definitely a great stop after having lunch and shopping on the strip.

Getting ahold of the museum was impossible. No one to call, website has no valuable information except for available hours. My friend and I drove to visit and when we arrived there was no one there to greet us! We made a trip just for that museum and in return we got nothing! Disappointed! Instead we walked around atlantic avenue because we didn't want our time to have been a waste. We still have no idea why the museum was closed when it was suppose to be open. And why there was no information available.

Waste of 15 minutes, difficult to find a parking spot . No mask requirements, nothing to see. The only plus was there was an elevator to the second floor, but no reason to go there.

The place is small, so if you're not into what happens to be presented at the moment, you've pretty much wasted your money. Also, while the building is historic (an old school) it has been redone top to bottom which I suppose makes for a clean white space, but renders its history irrelevant. On the plus side, the ladies who man the desk are extremely nice and engaging - clearly proud of their community. They inspired a hour's worth walk through town and for that I am grateful. As an art gallery though, pfft.

The Cornell Museum seemed like an oasis of cool, set back from the buzz of Atlantic Avenue in the centre of Delray Beach. Unfortunately, the art on the walls of the galleries didn't inspire any of us. I had been intrigued by the description of art using Swarovski crystals and other glittery enhancements because we had seen a fantastic art exhibition sponsored by Swarovski at the Design Museum in London two years ago. The Cornell Museum could not compare to the innovative pieces seen in London. These seemed garish and cartoonish in comparison. Well, at least the entry was on donation and there was parking out front. The rest of the family did a lot of eye-rolling in my direction, but it was a laugh.

The Cornell Art Museum is a small but amazing museum right in our home town. The newly renovated museum now houses contemporary and unique art installations which we have enjoyed immensely. We can't wait to see what is next.

Wonderful gem of a museum. Small enough to enjoy and big enough to have quality and variety. I particularly enjoyed their Asian collection. We never finished all the galleries as we had docent tour and their A/C was not functioning properly and we were freezing.

I saw the 7 solo show, and the installations were inspiring and soulful and extraordinary for visual-ness! It's small, and tho the fee is small, it's high for it's size. But the art was fantastic, eclectic and wonderful for this show. A great experience that stayed with me for days
