Shame on you

No longer permitted to use my personal tube, ugh! Staff informed me this is because of COVID. Campers and river estates use personal tubes and floats! Bus ride to parking lot was standing room only- Come on MCP&R, if its more money just say so and increase launch fee. Safety is not the issue/approved tubes are readily available on line and retail stores.

Nice Little Place to Rent Kayak, Boat, etc. No beach.
Mar. 2021
There is no beach here, but a lawn area to lay out, which is laden with ants. If you want to rent a kayak, paddleboard, take a boat tour, etc. they have it. However, the entrance fee is $5/pp, nothing included. The boat rental area takes up much of the waterfront, but there is a SMALL swallow swimming area. If you're not renting equipment, go elsewhere to sunbathe.

Drift Dive Rainbow River
Feb. 2021 • Business
Rainbow River at KP Hole is where I completed my 4th open water certification dive in 1997. Since then, I’ve been going there every year. Now as a scuba instructor this is where I bring my students to compete their certification. CPT Brit is an excellent and entertaining “Water Taxi” host.

Overpriced and doesn’t compare to others in the area
Dec. 2020 • Family
Went here on a Monday with family and it was just ok. Hang with me here.
Our sole purpose was to use the ramp for a kayak tour and we found a beautiful place to swim and enjoy the water. However there are no walking trails and cost was $5/person. Party of 5 plus cost of kayak tour plus tip was an expensive outing. Let’s just say I wanted to take advantage of everything they had, the only thing that would tilt me to this park was ability to drive kayak right down to the water. Other places you have to walk it a long way. I guess it just depends if you see the value in what you are doing. For us, the local state park was a better value.

Lovely Place to Visit!
Oct. 2020
The park staff helped us prepare for our kayak adventure on the Rainbow River. They went out of their way to make sure my wife had a life jacket that fit her comfortably. Excellent facilities too!

Enjoyable day
Oct. 2020 • Family
We went here in October. We could only go upstream. We rented 2 canoes and headed up stream. The trip is very enjoyable. There is lots of birds, turtles and fish to see. If you're lucky you might see a otter , we didn't see any this time. The prices are very reasonable from the KP hole. If you go to the top you can go to Rainbow River State park. It costs $2 per person to go there . You can swim in there swimming area.

Beautiful water, super crowded
Sep. 2020
We went kayaking with a river tour that used this as an entrance point. it was super crowded (of course it was Labor Day weekend) and no social distancing. Despite the crowd they only had one window open for entrance and concessions. Did not have time purchase anything before our tour left.

Such transparent water

We took off from here for a kayak trip. You can swim from here, launch your kayak or rent floaters. Lovely spot. Bring a picnic but no water bottles

5 and a Half Hours! Way too long, beware a slow river day!
Aug. 2020
Due to wind blowing the opposite direction of the flowing of the river, it took us 5.5 hours to make the trip down the river which was just entirely too long for our liking, and that was after we had spent much time paddling ourselves on our tubes. Others in our party were behind us and took them even longer to make the trip. My husband and I have gone tubing at the Rainbow River State park many times and enjoy their 2 to 2.5 hour trip down the river. However, we have always wanted to try KP Hole due to all the fuss we hear about how great it is. I will be sticking to Rainbow River State Park. I didn't find the KP Hole second half of the river interesting, we saw too many alligators, and they were not clear about where to exit the river. On top, I found $50 for two people, to be an unfair price.

I will say though, the bus ride on the way back was great! We had the whole bus to ourselves and our bus driver Ted (I believe that was his name) was so friendly and funny. He made the drive enjoyable and almost made me want to leave this place a better review- but at the end of the day- I knew I had to be fair. Anyways, if you get Ted- tell him I said hi!

KP Hole is way to busy
Jul. 2020
I live in Clearwater and have a large group of family in town. 11 people. We decided to go to KP Hole to rent some Kayaks and paddle the rainbow river. Ive been there many times and its always been great. Even went last forth of July and got on the river fine without any issues at around 9am. Well This past Sunday (July 19th 2020) we decided to go. I knew we had to wake up early because it gets busy. Well we left clearwater at 6am and got there around 8:15am. The park was full! I asked the person out front what time you need to get here and he said people start lining up at 6:30-7am! This is absolutely crazy. I have been many times over the past few years and its never been like that. Did this place all of the sudden become super popular? So after we couldnt get in there I called around to all the springs in the area. Called Chassohowitzka, crystal river, weekee wachee and all were fully booked by 9am on a Sunday. Im not sure whats going on around here but if you want to go to the springs on a weekend you better get there an hour before they even open. Unfortunately my large group drove all the way there and back for nothing. We ended up going to the Dunedin Causeway and paddling out to Caladesi Island. Plenty of kayaks to rent there. I plan on taking them back to one of the springs this week during the week. I probably wont ever try to go to a spring on a weekend in the summer time ever again.
