Happy Acres was a great place to stay for the experience of having roosters wake you up and enjoy the horses! Laura was great with the children and teaching them all about horses. She allowed us to ride Smoothie! Mr. Moore was awesome and had patience of gold with our family since we arrived a little late! The room was clean, but has a lot of decorations which can make it seem a little claustrophobic. Thank you Mr. Moore and Laura for a great experience!!

We didn’t come here for the horses, but for a place to stay 10minutes from Ocala and 10 minutes from Dunnelon. The cabin we stayed in was also quaint with family photos and farming and ranching artifacts decorating the walls. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom clean, with a full kitchen and in our opinion no evidence to support the comment about a “grumpy host.” Jim was kind and gentile with a wry sense of humor. We plan to seek reservations here again for our next trip back here.

It's shocking to see ANY good reviews on this sad place. The place is run by obviously socially inept, backward, grumpy old people.. I would advise anyone to stay away if your intention is to be treated with hospitality and have a good time. The place is sad all around. Happy Acres is the last thing I would ever call the place. It should be called UNHAPPY ACRES. The "lodge" we stayed stunk so bad we could barely stay in it. It smells like a dirty diaper. We bought a large bottle of Febreeze and with continuous spraying we were able to breathe without gagging. The wife could barely speak to say hello and Jim was not much better. Both of them have horrible unwelcoming personalities. If I had been alone I would have left because it is the kind of place you are sure someone is peering through the hole drilled in the wall. Just creepy. The horses are sad and even the chickens seem unhappy. We would never stay there again under any circumstances. .The place is a dump and a sad pall hangs over everything.

I just returned from a lovely trail ride at Happy Acres. Christina, barn manager and guide, was a fun riding companion and certainly knows horses and riding. The scenery was beautiful and the ride, peaceful and relaxing. The horses are well taken care of and are great on the trail. I’ve already booked another ride in for a few days from now!
