Took my dogs for a walk

Walked a little over 3 miles on the North Trail. It hasn't rained her in a couple weeks and there were muddy spots on the trail so I wouldn't plan on going right after it rained... read more

Myakka State Forest is NOT being a good neighbor at all on Foresman Blvd. We have been in contact with them to fix the drainage on their side of the street as our road keeps flooding at times to the point where we cannot access our home. (at the Foresman Blvd Trailhead) Our road continues to wash away every storm,... More

We dropped by for a mornings Airboat tour of the area. Saw quite a few Alligators and othe wildlife. Our guide was knowledgable and funny. We end our morning going on the tree top walk. Wooden walkways above the forest canopy with a 23 meter high lookout tower. As the title of my review says - Well worth a visit

Drove through the forest hoping to find some navigable trails with photo opportunities. All we found were very overgrown trains and only a very few of those. I wouldn't hike these trails without bug and snake protection.

We took the tram tour through the woods and fields. The ranger was very informative and interesting. He has extensive knowledge of the history of the area and the cattle ranchers that once were in the area.

We drove out there, paid the admission at the gate, then left within 30 minutes. We couldn't see any walking trails, no attractions for the kids (or adults, either), nothing to keep us there. Don't bother.

Walked a little over 3 miles on the North Trail. It hasn't rained her in a couple weeks and there were muddy spots on the trail so I wouldn't plan on going right after it rained. It was a nice walk, but wished I printed a map so I knew where I was and were the other trails led to.... More

We went on a day following a rain storm and the trails were so swampy we had to turn around and go back. There were horse shoe prints everywhere so I assume it is a good place to ride. the box to put your money in at the entrance was so stuffed you could not put in the fee.

Unless you live close by, it is a bit of a drive, but well worth it. Depending upon your needs you can spend a couple of hours there, or if you are adventurous a day or two. Yes, you can rent canoes and disappear into beautiful scenery for a full day (if the alligators don't get you first). There are... More

Driving through this park some of the trees and swamp looked positively Jurassic. Great for birdlife, alligator spotting and we saw Manatee too. Well worth looking in the information centre too.

Very popular attraction to see alligators in the wild. We enjoy taking bikes and biking around the park. There is a boat that takes a tour on the river to see wildlife.
